"Are we prepared to promote conditions in which the living contact with God can be reestablished? For our lives today have become godless to the point of complete vacuity. God is no longer with us in the conscious sense of the word. He is denied, ignored, excluded from every claim to have a part in our daily life." - Alfred Delp, S.J.

This is an outrage: Minnesota man shot by police after being pulled over for a busted tail light - shot and killed while reaching for his wallet.

"My God, this video below of the immediate aftermath of Philando Castile’s shooting by a suburban Minneapolis police officer leaves one speechless. His girlfriend, Lavish Reynolds, started uploading the video to Facebook live, moments after the officer shot him in a traffic stop for a busted tail light. In the video, you see a wounded, bleeding Castile in what were the last moments of his life."  - Source

 News story here.

Prayers for Mr. Castile and his family.
My deepest sympathy.
I am so sorry for your loss.

Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord.
And let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace.
 Amen.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God,
rest in peace.
Amen.

  1. Violence surrounds us. Our world is a tinderbox awaiting the match. A local Walmart had a thirty person fist fight. I know the 17 year old who instigated some of it. People went to Sporting Goods to get bats. Fortunately no one had a concealed gun. The police have an impossible job but the fast is we are safe no where not even in our homes or on the streets. Life is cheap these days.

  2. Member of the crops. Woman admitted there was weed in car. Since there was a gun in the car, we don't know know if he was reaching for that or his wallet.

    1. Member of the crops. What does that mean?

    2. I'm not sure what it means either - unless it's a typo - 'crips' is a gang - but Castile was not a gang banger and he was by all reports, law abiding, and a conceal and carry advocate. That said - it was supposedly a routine traffic stop for a broken headlight - there is no excuse for the shooting. The officer was told he had a gun and a permit. Likewise - the woman is on tape explaining things.

Every week, sometimes every other day there is some sort of gun violence - black on black, and other stupid shootings.

The police need special training - it appears this cop maybe wasn't well trained? Or just freaked out? Something went wrong.
