"Are we prepared to promote conditions in which the living contact with God can be reestablished? For our lives today have become godless to the point of complete vacuity. God is no longer with us in the conscious sense of the word. He is denied, ignored, excluded from every claim to have a part in our daily life." - Alfred Delp, S.J.

“Previously, I wanted everything to go my way, but seeing that nothing was done as I wanted, I began to wish that everything be done as it is done; so it was that everything started to be done as I wanted.” - Elder Joseph of Optino

  1. This morning I went to Mass and was chatting with an older gentleman on the way in from the parking lot. We commented that the weather is unseasonably mild (it's been raining and all the snow is gone - last year we had 3 feet of snow.) He said that we can't change the weather, all we can do is change our attitude towards it. I replied that it would be easier to change the weather than some of our attitudes. Then we laughed. Wishing you a spiritually profitable Lent, Terry.

  2. I couldn't help but smile when I saw this. Thanks for the post.
