Mass hysterics ... Now Catholics want the Government to step in?

Blognic in an egg.
(I depicted Thomas Peters in the papal tiara.)

Catholic Vote Thomas Peters is sounding more and more like Michael Voris.

Church Militant says Catholic Trump supporters would like the trump administration to step in an resolve clergy sex abuse scandal and make the American Church great again.

Politically conservative, angry Catholic Trump supporters want the federal government to take action and end the scourge of sex abuse and cover-up by Catholic clergy and leaders, and these are the voters among Catholics that Trump needs to pay attention to - regular Mass attending Catholics. - CM

Peters has lost it as well, writing:

I have come to the difficult conclusion, along with Hugh Hewitt and others, that a government-led investigation into the Catholic hierarchy is probably the only means at our disposal to be an example for the universal church for how to uproot this network of corruption inside our church and yes, to get priests and bishops to begin speaking out and turning each other in, following the trail back to the loggia of Rome. 49 more state attorney generals and the Attorney General using every means at their disposal to discover which bishops and cardinals have endangered children by moving predator priests, have orchestrated cover ups to protect abusive priests and bishops and cardinals and have individually and collectively preyed upon young men and seminarians. Open up the files. Follow the paper trail. Deposition. Subpoena. Jail. - CatholicVote

You Mr. Peter's think like American lobbyists and political pundits.  Talk about partisanship and tribalism - who knew uber-Catholics would be the ones to bring on the persecution?  They literally have more faith in the secular government and Trump than in Christ and the Church.  Be careful what you wish for Poodles.

"Christ wins in the end." - Pope Benedict

Be careful what you wish for.

  1. wow!

Nice work! You did that back in 2011?

    That's prophetic!

Please list the names in the egg and maybe update the egg....

  2. I honestly don't know if these people realize it, but they are doing everything they can to subvert the Magesterium. Yes, we have bad priests and bishops who committed unspeakable acts, and they need to reap the consequences of their evil. And those who actually abused children should be subject to the civil authorities.

But to turn everything over to secular human authorities will destroy the Magesterium, and will in fact destroy the Church.

This is truly a diabolical attack upon the Church, meant to destroy her.

But as you say, Terry, quoting Benedict, "Christ wins in the end."

We are in the middle of a huge spiritual war.

  3. I do think it would be good to have soemthing akin to the PA grand jury investigation and report in very single state, though. The problem is that we’re addicted to secrecy and allergic to transparency.

  4. That small clamoring crowd you depict in your painting and who seem to dominate the Internet airwaves these days don't speak for me, gracias a Dios. I don't care anymore what they're spouting so I am shutting them off from now on.

In my big parish of eight Masses said every Sunday plus two every day of the week, the Pastor asks only that we pray for all the victims suffering from abuse, that God's will be done regarding the abuse scandal and to pray fervently "por nuestro Papa Francisco." No mudslinging, finger pointing or self-righteous indignation from anyone I've seen there.

Here's what I am thinking these days ...

    1. I think I am one of those people in the painting and I am not dominating the air waves by any means.

  5. Here the problem is the first amendment. Absent evidence of a particular bishop committing a particular crime, the state has no jurisdiction. F no!

I love Thom Peter's but he views the world from a more political space. bever invite government into the internal forum.

  6. Wanting to turn anything over to the government is mind-bogglingly stupid. The Founding Fathers had the right idea: separation of Church and state. Good grief!

    1. That was from a private letter from Thomas Jefferson to the Danbury Baptist community, which was concerned about government interference in their worship. It was meant to reassure them that the government would stay put of religious matters and is now being misused to say that religion should stay out of the public sphere.

  7. Kinda makes you wish we had a Holy Roman Emperor to settle this mess...doesn't it!

    LOL!

  8. Everything is mixed together these days. It is a great strategy to muddy the waters, confuse, deflect and avoid the elephant in the room. I am not upset with Francis for his silence on this controversy of the accusatory letter so far. I do not know what the future will bring. We are in a world where everyone is the target of someone. J' Accuse is rampant. Like in the old days in totalitarian societies beware of your neighbor, enemy, family or friends. Anyone can turn you in for crimes against the people. No proof necessary. Now that I think of it, isn't that what happened to our dear Savior? He was silent too.

  9. "Everything is mixed together these days"

That's quite the understatement until one ventures out and reads disgusting stuff like this:

    https://cruxnow.com/church-in-the-usa/2018/09/05/two-chicago-priests-arrested-for-sex-act-in-car-in-miami/

Good they were caught. I hope many more will be caught too and tossed out of the priesthood. Papa Francis knows what he's about when he said "no homosexuals in the priesthood." Of course, everyone ignored that one or can't remember he ever said it.

Let's keep praying and hoping and thanking the Lord as He moves about cleansing His temple. The Bishops failed, the secular government sure ain't the answer. They'll only make things worse. No gracias!

  10. Great post. Unfortunately, because it was not handled properly by the Church authorities to begin with, the sexual abuse crimes will undoubtedly be handed over to the civil authorities, as has already happened in some places, like Pennsylvania. None of which is cause for rejoicing but for tears.
