Giving up.

Until the Holy Father speaks and addresses the issue of sexual abuse and cover-up I have no interest in what any Catholic has to say on the subject, be they cardinal, archbishop, bishop, priest, religious or laity.

I'm going to confession now.

Song for this post here.

  1. So I guess you are not going to care what I or anyone else has to say, but since you have not turned the comments off, I am going to say it.

The people who have made these horrific accusations against Pope Francis are not interested in finding out the truth. They are not interested in protecting sexual abuse victims. They are interested in only one thing: to push Francis out of the papacy. They have been attacking Pope Francis since he first stepped out on the balcony in 2013. Now they think by linking him to the sexual abuse scandal, they can finally push him out.

Pope Francis is a human being, and as he told us, he is a sinner. But the Papacy is not like a CEO of a corporation or even the President of the United States. The Papacy is a Divine Office. Jesus said He would build his Church upon Peter, and literally gave him the Keys of Heaven. No human being has authority of any kind over the Papacy. Anyone who tries to fight the Papacy is fighting against the Holy Spirit.

In 1969 Father Joseph Ratzinger predicted that the Church would become very small. It was a beautiful prediction actually, and now I can how it will happen. Those who are so insistent on causing division and strife are purging themselves out of the Body of Christ. The Church will be powerless in the world, but spiritually, it will be a mighty force.

"The Church will be a more spiritualized Church, not presuming upon a political mantle, flirting as little with the Left as with the Right. It will be hard going for the Church, for the process of crystallization and clarification will cost her much valuable energy. It will make her poor and cause her to become the Church of the meek. The process will be all the more arduous, for sectarian narrow-mindedness as well as pompous self-will will have to be shed. … But when the trial of this sifting is past, a great power will flow from a more spiritualized and simplified Church.
And so it seems certain to me that the Church is facing very hard times. The real crisis has scarcely begun. We will have to count on terrific upheavals. But I am equally certain about what will remain at the end: not the Church of the political cult, which is dead already, but the Church of faith. She may well no longer be the dominant social power to the extent that she was until recently; but she will enjoy a fresh blossoming and be seen as man’s home, where he will find life and hope beyond death."

    1. One other thing: If those opposing Francis succeed, they will have destroyed the Papacy. And that would be the end of the Church.

Who do you think is really behind this coup?

  2. Sorry, Terry, but one more thing. You might want to read this. This guy knew what he was talking about

    1. I think I am in agreement with you on most of your points. One exception however is I am confident they will never win although there may be a blood bath. I wrote weeks ago I had lost faith in our USA hierarchy but not the sacramental church. We are entering a purification. I do not know the full extent of who is right and who is wrong. I may not need to know. Our time of troubles will raise great saints to help us through. Of that I am confident.

    2. I totally agree with you. I think the Church is being purified right now, and as you say, we will see great saints as a result of this. It is a time of sadness now, but I do hope I can live to see a truly unified Church preaching the Gospel as Christ commanded us to do instead of all of this infighting with everyone thinking they are the Magesterium.

Remember, where Peter is there you will find the Church.

    3. Thanks you guys. Yep - where Peter is, there is the Church. I'm not giving up in that sense - not at all. I went to confession and I think my sadness is more pure - at least I hope so, to console OL of Sorrows. Or at least try to. Let's keep praying for one another, esp. as this becomes even more distorted and surreal.
