"Are we prepared to promote conditions in which the living contact with God can be reestablished? For our lives today have become godless to the point of complete vacuity. God is no longer with us in the conscious sense of the word. He is denied, ignored, excluded from every claim to have a part in our daily life." - Alfred Delp, S.J.

Happy Feast Day to Jorge and Georg ...

Feast of St. George.

I think it may be transferred this year because it falls in Easter Week.

Happy feast day anyway.

  3. Some time ago, I had as coworkers three siblings, two sisters and their brother. They were Orthodox Christians from Jordan. A strikingly handsome bunch, they resembled icons with their arched eyebrows, large dark eyes, and strong straight noses. One day Nadine told me that her middle name was George, in honor of St. George, and that her sister and brother also had the middle name of George. In fact, she said that all the Orthodox in Jordan have the middle name George in honor of the Saint. I don't know if that is true, but I thought it was the coolest thing.
It also reminded me of how boxer George Foreman gave all of his sons (and a couple of his daughters a variation on) the name George.
