Servant of the servants of God.
I am so happy... so deeply moved.
I just read about Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Argentina this morning and was so edified by his life... I never expected he would be made Pope.
In thanksgiving to the Most Holy Trinity for the election of the new Pope. Tomorrow he goes to see the Madonna.
Scenes from the Life of St. Francis.
Franciscum I, Viva il Papa!
ReplyDeleteI'm still waiting to see which Francis.... I am encouraged by the thought of a Jesuit from South America!
ReplyDeleteFrancis, rebuild my church, or Francis, patron of missionaries - either way it's all good! And so humble!!!! I love him already!
ReplyDeleteI was moved to tears when he asked us to pray to the Lord for him and then bowed down. And yes, Angela, "Francis rebuild my church." I didn't even think of that. I too, already love this Holy Father.
ReplyDeleteSt. Francis Xavier...
ReplyDeleteSounds like a wonderful man...and one who will change the reigning perception of the Jesuits. But. Will the Tango become mandatory at Catholic wedding receptions?
ReplyDeleteBill - Yesterday and today I have been listening to Tango music - this morning I listened to Yo Yo Ma, Soul of the Concert.
ReplyDeleteY'all - I don't know which saint the Pope honored with his name, but his example certainly suggests Francis of Assisi to me.
ReplyDeleteTerry,
ReplyDeleteYour predictions were right: 3-13-13! And at 3:13 EDT the name of the new pope was announced!!
St George, slay that dragon!!!
Holy Mary, crush the head of the serpent!!
St Francis, rebuild My Church!
Just checked - indeed it is Francis of Assisi:
ReplyDelete[Updated at 4:53 p.m. ET] We've just been given confirmation about which Francis the new pope is honoring in his choice of name.
The new pope took the name Francis in honor of St. Francis of Assisi because he is a lover of the poor, Vatican spokesman the Rev. Tom Rosica told CNN.
Also, the new pope should be known as Pope Francis, not Pope Francis I, Rosica said.
Just to chime in again - I AM SO HAPPY!
ReplyDeleteI am So Happy Too...! feeling very teary-eyed. Thanks for clearing up which Francis ! This is all just wonderful !
ReplyDeleteTerry didn't you predict he would be selected on 3-13-13...way to go..
ReplyDeleteI am so happy, too! Amen, Amen!
ReplyDeleteGod is good. I am astounded just how good!
ReplyDelete...isn't it interesting how fast this conclave was ? did everyone else know that this man was considered 8 years ago ?
ReplyDeleteHe just Feels So Right for the job. such relief !
Gives a whole new meaning to "Our Holy Father Francis".
ReplyDeleteI'm so thrilled with our new pope, I have to say it. From his friendly "buona sera," to his lack of splendid papal regalia, to his simple pectoral cross suspended naturally, to his time out for silent prayer, to his recitation of the Lord's Prayer, the Hail Mary, and the short Doxology. I really believe this is going to be a remarkable pontificate, and it already fills me with joy and hope for the future.
I'm also glad that this puts paid to the Malachy "prophecies" once and for all (and hopefully alot of the others).
Long live the Pope!
Yes he finished second to Pope B in the last conclave- of course we won't get those same details this time since Pope B added the rule that if any of the electors reveal the inner workings of the conclave that they are excommunicated- so even the chatty Italian cardinals may zip it this time! He does seem like a humble and holy priest- but for us English speakers- it may make us sad that early reports are that he doesn't speak much English
ReplyDeleteWow - I did not know about the new rule for the electors - seems like a good idea - I'd prefer not to know, if we do it ends up feeling like the regular US of A elections, lots of what if's etc. Mystery is better, so under-rated. Also, the prayers for Benedict: these are also always the traditional prayers we say for the Pope, do we not - Our Father, Hail Mary, Glory Be....
ReplyDeletewhat 'kind' of Spanish is spoken in his home-land ? I am confused by...that which is spoken in Spain, that spoken in Mexico, South America - I am completely ignorant - but would like to learn, and have felt inclined to get one of those programs to learn.
They just speak regular Spanish, consolata. The accent is different in different countries, but they're all mutually understandable.
ReplyDeleteI am so happy! I was invigilating an exam when I got the news, so I wasn't able to whoop and do my Snoopy dance of happiness!
ReplyDeleteYou can already see it on the faces of the liberal news media in Canada just how much they dislike Papa Francis. Cardinals 2013...doing it RIGHT!
