It's gotta be an epidemic by now.
How many people 'out there' habitually take such drugs as Lorazepam, Valium, Xanax and/or some other type of anti-anxiety drug, as well as some sort of anti-depressant, along with prescription sleep aids? How many people take at least two of these drugs and sometimes mix it with alcohol? How many people take even more prescription drugs for pain, along with those already mentioned? How many people abuse these drugs?
I'm on Zoloft, have been for years, and I like to drink ... of course, I never have more than a beer or two.
ReplyDeleteMaybe that's why I'm so messed up?
Someone I love is hooked on a few of those and can't get off. It's painful to watch.
ReplyDeletePablo, I understand that such things CAN be due yo what you mentioned, but there is a lot of physiological nasis for it too, and lots of faithful, good people suffer badly from depression, anxiety, OCD, and other conditions on the spectrum. So it's not always due to what you said (but I don't think that was your point anyway).
ReplyDeleteMerc - taking this stuff as prescribed is fine - your use is what it should be I think. I'm thinking of those folks who abuse these drugs.
ReplyDeleteI took Oxycontin for just 3 days by Dr.'s prescription and it took me 3 nights of hallucinogenic nightmares to get off. That was 20 years ago and it instilled in me a permanent sympathy for addicts. I was perfectly content with life at the time, but the high I got from that drug was so powerful, it would wake me in the middle of the night because I felt so GOOD! I've been told it is comparable to heroin.
ReplyDeleteI have a friend who has been hooked on Valium all his life (he carries it in his wallet). He is an alcoholic and yes drinks with valium. Mix that with Same Sex Attraction, porn/sex addiction..........well you get the picture. I pray every day that his guardian angel lead him into the light of Christ.
