There is a beautiful prayer in the older breviary this morning that could serve to prepare our hearts for all the wonderful feasts of September:
We entreat Your majesty, Lord: as You keep giving us the joy of commemorating the feasts of your saints, grant also that we may always be protected by their prayers. This we ask of You through our Lord Jesus Christ, Your Son, who lives and reigns with You in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God forever. Amen.
And as we prepare our hearts for these wonderful feasts, let us also begin to pray for the coming meeting at Assisi.
One wonders why the Holy Father would reopen that wound. An event that scandalized not only Traditionalist Catholics, but Orthodox and Protestant Christians and Jews and Muslims as well. An event so divisive, an event that smears the memory of a pope just beatified for the good he did do.
Let us pray that this meeting will be guided solely by the Holy Ghost, that confusion and relativism will be cast out. That scandal, sacrilege and sin will be prevented and for the special protection of Our Lady. Let us pray moreover, for conversion, deep conversion to happen on the part of those clinging to false religions.
I really need to get a job back in the mid-west so that we can have a Mid-Cath-Con and get all the Minn, Wis, Michigan and other states nearby, to get all the bloggers together and do crazy things. It would be fun. And we might even get on TV.
I'm so glad Cathy--as you say--should be getting out soon and back to blogging. I think that as long as she takes her medications, she should be able to stay out for as long as she wants. ;0)

Thanks for the warning. I'll be locking up all my liquor and valuables.
