St. Teresa of Calcutta

She inspires joy in me whenever I look at her or read about her or see her depicted in film.  She makes me want to do good, to be better, and this desire is always accompanied by compunction, and a prayer for her assistance.

  1. For many years, I believed that Mother Teresa and Princes Diana had died on the same day and it upset me that Mother Teresa's death didn't cause the same media uproar. I checked the dates recently and was shocked to discover that I had this false memory.

    1. I piously imagine Mother waited to die in order to ensure Diana was saved - since she seemed to love the Princess so much. Mother Never judged others but urged them to do good no matter their station in life. There's a really cool photo of her alone with Hilary Clinton I posted once.

  2. I know what you mean about Mother Teresa. A great grace in my life was the opportunity, 33 years ago, when I spent three hours with her… Just me, one of my Jesuit professors, and Mother Teresa. Blessed and memorable.

  3. Her memorial isn't in the Los Angeles Province's Ordo, not even as an optional memorial. That makes me sad. I hope it will make it into the 2018 Ordo.

    1. Evidently not here either - and not in Magnificat either - just a meditation. It certainly seems to me that her stature as a saint is on par with Francis of Assisi and St. Therese.

    2. I was totally surprised to find out this morning that she is not in the San Francisco Metropolitan Ordo as well. I thought FOR SURE it would be at least an optional memorial for a saint of such worldwide stature...not to mention that the Missionaries of Charity Novitiate for the Americas is in our Archdiocese.

  4. Just checked my Canadian missalette and nothing for Mother. We shall see if Father mentions her tonight in his homily or prayer intentions - he is from India.

    1. Nothing about Mother at Mass and she wasn't invoked at the conclusion of the Rosary either.

  5. Fathers homily was about her and how, by picking people out of the gutter, she ensured they died knowing they were loved.

  6. No word about her at the Mass I attended either. It's strange to me since the Missionaries are here in our archdiocese as well, and many priests are very devoted to them.
