[My first thought: Angels and Demons - you know, the novel/film. Robert Langdon, Harvard symbologist. (I think Langdon may be in the Philippines right now, deciphering symbols embedded in plastic rosaries.) What?
Anyway. Don't get mad at me - that's the climate created by Catholic nut-jobs online who spark controversy with tall tales and conspiracy theories and reports of devils and heretics taking over the Vatican.]
Seriously ...

Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon him.
May he rest in peace. Amen.
May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen.
Honestly Terry...I was thinking the exact same sad thing: when will we read about how Pope Francis' "henchmen are eliminating the opposition"?
ReplyDeleteWhew! I was afraid I maybe shouldn't have posted that - but now that you said you thought the same thing.
DeleteIt's already being discussed at the usual "outrage porn" sites, especially One Skojec Five (which is trying to link Card. Caffara's death to his "broken heart" over the firing of Josef Seifert, must as they did with Card. Meissner and the firing of Card. Muller.) If nothing, they have a certain talent for detective fiction which they ought to develop rather than indulging in inane gossip and snide accusations. Who wouldn't enjoy a Catholic Agatha Christie once in a while? =)
DeleteWhy no mention of the cause of death?
ReplyDeleteI read somewhere he had been suffering a long illness - I don't know anything else. One of the conspiracy theorists on LifeSite said "I for one want an autopsy."
DeleteFrom what I have read, Cardinal Caffarra was relatively healthy for his age. It IS very suspicious that two of the four dubia Cardinals have died in a short span of time. If another one dies soon, then we will definitely know that something wicked is afoot. No matter the cause of death, the fact is that the leaders of the resistance of the false teachings of Pope Francis has been cut in half. That is certainly not good for the Church. The darkness is growing. I for one was very disturbed all day yesterday. With two hurricanes, two states on fire, earthquakes in Utah, threats from North Korea, the 100th anniversary of Fatima, a plethora of approved catholic prophesy predicting trouble, one has to wonder what God is doing. Even neocons like Patrick Madrid are asking questions about these times. Something is in the air...a wickedness attends the leadership of the Church...we must pray and fast.
ReplyDeleteI can't recall where I read that - maybe Catholic Herald? I didn't know Patrick Madrid was expressing concern. I honestly don't know what neocons are - I'm not at all political and I hope I don't fit in any category, right, left, in-between, nor do I want to be identified with any description other than a Catholic man.
DeleteThis morning I was inspired to read Luke 21. I woke up with the thought of vs. 25 of that chapter - specifically this: 'On the earth nations will be in anguish, distraught at the roaring of the sea and the waves.' Yet at the end of that passage Jesus encourages us: "When these things begin to happen, stand erect and hold your heads high, for your deliverance is near at hand." - Luke 21:28
"Jesus encourages us: "When these things begin to happen, stand erect and hold your heads high, for your deliverance is near at hand." - Luke 21:28
DeleteAmen, I say! Amen!
May we be found working in the Lord's Vineyard tending to our neighbor in need with charity and prayer.
I, for one, don't want to be among those caught unawares sitting behind my computer ensnared in gossip and slander with an attitude that I have it all "figured out" and knowingly/self-righteously so.
In these times of disastrous natural upheaval, I still believe grace abounds even more so. I'm going to keep trying my best with God's grace. Wringing my hands will be a complete and utter waste of time.
Let's pray for our Holy Father too. May he endure to the end, bearing his cross in imitation of our Lord Jesus Christ. No matter the venom spewed his way, he is still doing the work of the Lord and I for one remain grateful.
May the Cardinal Caffarra RIP.
"Caffarra died. He declared, “I against the Pope? I'd rather they say I have a lover”
ReplyDeleteThis is a very interesting quote.
He was Created and proclaimed Cardinal by Benedict XVI in the consistory of 24 March 2006. Cardinal Caffarra was a member of the Congregation for the Causes of Saints, Supreme Tribunal of the Apostolic Signatura. Honorary Member of the Pontifical Academy for Life.
In October 2014, he did not use diplomatic words to answer those who defined him as an opponent of Pope Francis after his name appeared among those who had signed the book that contradicted Cardinal Walter Kasper's thesis of a "merciful" solution on the subject of communion to divorced. "Pardon my joke but I'd be more pleased to hear that the Archbishop of Bologna has a lover rather than he opposes the Pope’s thinking," Caffarra said. Because, "if a bishop is not in line with the Pope’s thinking," the Archbishop explained, then "he must leave, really, he must leave the diocese. Because he would lead the faithful on a road that is no longer that of Jesus Christ. He would then lose himself eternally and risk the eternal loss of the faithful. "
To be considered against the Argentine Pontiff "is something that has deeply disheartened me, for it is slanderous."
"I was born papist," he concluded, "I have lived as a papist and I want to die papist."
In April, Francis and Caffarra met in the cathedral of Carpi during a Papal visit and fraternally embraced.

Thanks again Yaya! You always find the truth behind the headlines - God bless you for that! I love this: "I was born papist," he concluded, "I have lived as a papist and I want to die papist." That goes for me too.
DeleteThe dear cardinal's name had to be cleared as well. I am glad to have found that article. Gracias a Dios y a la Madre de Dios!

DeleteJohn Allen has written a good piece about the Cardinal.
