Worse and worser.
I came across some serious detraction regarding the Holy Father and the recent Bull of Indiction of the Extraordinary Jubilee of Mercy. The rhetoric, the speculation offered on some of these sites verges upon calumny. One writer exclaimed: "The diabolical influence on this pope is unmistakable!" Before that, he declares his good intentions announcing: "Let it not be said that I am out to attack the pope; rather, I am simply out to defend the truth."
Beware the Catholic blogosphere.
Pray for the Holy Father.
I do and always place him under our Lady's holy mantle since she knows quite well how much he is attacked. There must be a reason he has been given the many graces he needs to pray so early in the morning and for what is reported to be at least two hours every morning. I am glad as that makes him strong against the tide of ill will, malicious gossip, malcontents, sowers of confusion.

Terry, I am relieved to have stopped visiting so many other sites to read what is going on in the Catholic world. I stick to those sites that are steadfast and true...Deacon Greg's site, your site, Vatican Radio, Father Barron's and a few others.
Anyway, let's keep praying as you so rightly suggest. ^^

DeleteI don't always understand the Pope - any of them, not just our current one. I highly suspect that is a problem that originates with me - not him. And it's exacerbated by reading anything in the mainstream media or by anyone that wants to make themselves their own pope (whether they are loosey-goosey or uptighty-righty) I think it's FABULOUS that there is going to be a Jubilee of Mercy! I've been immersed these past few weeks in trying to understand Limited Atonement thanks to a Calvinist friend - I am soooo ready for the Good News of the Unfathomable Mercy of Our Lord Jesus Christ!!! I love you Papa Francis!

i sometimes think the real enemy of the Church is the "catholic" blogosphere, much more so than any professed secular enemy.
ReplyDeleteTheir fundamental problem is with Vatican II. They follow dubious prophecies which say there will be an evil council. They interpret everything in that light.
DeleteAs my RE teacher used to say "empty vessels make the most noise!". When you consider the Holy Father has 20 million twitter followers a few noisy bloggers are small fry. :)
