On a more serious note, does anyone have any ideas about where they are and what has happened? It seems celeb priests can get away with things that no one else in this country could ever get away w/. I am dead serious: how does the Church make this happen. It is simply amazing, to me, anyway...
The Church is very good at making people "disappear" - not just celeb priests like these, but I've seen it at work in my own parish. I served as organist for 20 years. Now that I'm retired, no one even knows I'm there any more - and my departure was unfortunately not in the best of circumstances. If people want to make an "uncomfortable" person disappear, it definitely happens - so this factoid is no surprise. It can happen to anyone.
