Not everyone was sad about Mr. Buckley.
With the conservative Catholic blogosphere nearly ready to canonize the guy, it was a hoot to run across this:
"The evil sons of bitches have lost one of their leaders. William F. Buckley is dead at 82.
Mr. Buckley’s greatest achievement was making conservatism — not just electoral Republicanism, but conservatism as a system of ideas — respectable in liberal post-World War II America. He mobilized the young enthusiasts who helped nominate Barry Goldwater in 1964, and saw his dreams fulfilled when Reagan and the Bushes captured the Oval Office.
If nothing else, Bill Buckley's death gives us one more reason to live a righteous life.
Because now, if you go to hell, you'll have to listen to this pompous asshole for all eternity." - Kenny's Sideshow
May God deliver him from the pains of hell, and may he rest in peace. Amen.

Personally, I liked many things that Buckley spoke about, although not everything he said I would agree with.
Tom - I can't find the original website now.
ReplyDeleteHERE it is.
ReplyDeleteI've had links messed up like that, now and then. For some reason Blogger makes them www.blogger.com, rather than the site being linked to. If anyone knows why, I'm curious.
Thanks Jeffrey!
