The top image is a bit colder but closer to the original as it looks in natural light. The 2nd image is shot using artificial lighting. I am not a photographer, to be sure. I wanted make an attempt to do a painting more closely resembling the only known photograph of Venerable Matt Talbot.
St. Bernadette and St. Faustina were both disappointed in the artistic renderings of the Immaculate Conception and the Divine Mercy as the artist could't quite capture the transcendent. If you are not satisfied with your painting of Matt Talbot I suspect the same thing is happening. :)

DeleteI like it, Terry. It looks like he has his eyes on Jesus, not on worldly distractions. And it looks like he has suffered, not drawing attention to himself, which he certainly did for the love of God.

We have a problem with the cover of the book, since no photo of Matt Talbot exists in good quality. Also, we would like to know if it would be possible to use a photo of one of your paintings for the cover (especially the one which was made from the only photo that we have of him). If yes, I would like to know your conditions, and if you could have this photo in good quality. We plan to send the book to the printer next week.

I am so sorry I missed your inquiry until today, Saturday. You are free any image of Matt Talbot which I have done, at no charge. I do not have professional photos, only those I've posted online. The image in this post has never been released - therefore never used. If you like, you may have the original. I am going to try and email you now.
