Burke Announces a Formal Correction of Pope Francis to Take Place in Early 2017.

Stunning photo by Steve Skojec.

If the Pope doesn't respond to the dubia, that is.

Cardinal Burke revealed that in an interview with LifeSiteNews.  If the Holy Father doesn't respond to the Four Cardinals dubia, Burke says they will offer a formal correction to the Holy Father sometime after Christmas.  Steve Skojec wonders if there may be an Akita/Fatima-chastisement link related to the Akita 'cardinal against cardinal' prophecy - and because the correction would take place in the 2017 Fatima centenary.  The apparitions are connected to some extent, since both concluded on October 13 and stuff like that.

Did Charlie Johnston predict any of this?

Anyway.

Isn't that a cool photo of the Cardinal?

  1. I really tire of Steve Skojec and his fixation on these sorts of things. And Akita isn't exactly an approved apparition, if anything it's controverted.

    1. He does seem fixated - and you are right - Akita isn't exactly approved - unlike Fatima. The mistake these people make is overlaying all the other purported 'messages' over the message of Fatima.

That said - Skojec's photo is really great - it begs to be painted.

  2. Gee ... does this really matter in the grand scheme of things? With so much chaos, turmoil, murder, torture, persecution, blowing up of innocents in market places, the cutting of throats of priests/parishioners or blowing them up while they're at worship ... I could go on ...

I look at that picture and see nothing but opulence while people are dying of hunger and of thirst. I understand that for some this finery is meaningful and necessary. Not for me. Gee ... I must be lacking in faith then.

With so much to pray and deal with in life, I entrust the entire dubia affair to the Lord's just wisdom and mercy.

Prayers for Papa Francis and the four cardinals.

    1. I'm at peace about it and you are right Yaya - it is the wrong focus - for me at least. It will all work out and the drama is unnecessary.

    2. This is true beauty, Terry. I had to smile at our Lady for such a gift.

  4. My comment was not a criticism of you so much as a comment on the state of world affairs in general.

  5. Yaya hit the nail on the head..with all that is going on in the world THIS is what is keeping these four up at night? They are just making the case for Francis insistence on "accompaniment," and the lack thereof.

I am sure he is a good man, but wow, Burke just reminds me of those guys you would beat on after to school as they would always tell "Sister" on you ("Sister, he said damn while we were playing kick ball!") and always know Catechism answers, (preening Sister's praise) and always ask for "clarification " on an assignment so he could get things "just right" ("Sister, don' you want us to complete the extra credit story problems on the last page???")

I hope Pope Francis gives all 4 of them wedgies!

    2. Thanks Terry and back at you!

Joel, as mentioned below..I don't think its wrong that they question the Pope and ask for clarification...(though I admit, its seems kind of nit picky to me but I am obviously never going to be theologian...) but I think it would be braver of them to stand up to authority face to face as a man does, as it is, it seems as if they are making sure that certain people have their backs, and they are looking for applause from that crowd.

But what do I know, I always thought that Cardinals could call the pope on the phone and talk to him directly but I guess in the antique feudal system of the Vatican things have to be done of so formally.

  7. Well, "this" issue wasn't introduced by the four cardinals but by Kasper. I'm astonished that so many think it's somehow silly or rebellious or out of touch to want a clear explanation of how this is consistent with the Church's teaching. I have listened hard but still haven't heard one. As for all the other crises in the world, you know, it is possible to be concerned about more than one thing at once. To be clear, this is not a defence of the 1P5 website.

    1. Thanks for that comment. You are right - I do not think it's out of line for asking for a definitive response. What is strange to me is the publicity surrounding it as well as the interviews which creates all of this speculation and conspiracy theories. And I too am concerned about many things. I still think Steve's photo is terrific.

    2. When people in "adulterous relationships" and still going to communion are blowing sh*t up or running over people at a Chistkindle market then I will be more concerned.

I agree with Terry, I don't think its wrong that the cardinals would like some explanations, but their doing this so publicly...or a certain segment of the Catholic population are doing that for them,...seems petty and odd.

Doesn't the Church have all staff meetings???

    3. Yes - the way social media has it Burke is all over the world talking about this, holding meetings, giving interviews, and so on - with endless commentary by the fervent online speculating and stirring up the attack on Pope Francis. It's nearly as bad as the presidential political crap we just went through. That said, most ordinary people seem to get on with their lives without any of this affecting them.

    4. That's the beauty of the faith in this big wide beautifully tragic world of ours ... those who have opposed our Holy Father since the beginning, now have more free reign to foment discord especially with the impression that Burke is unable to stop himself from holding court with the press on this delicate matter.

In the meantime, the back bone of the Church, those who go about faithfully living their daily duty, may they remain strong in prayer, love and in charity.

I have much to learn from them than from cardinals arrayed in opulence.

    1. He should be - after reading his interview in CWR - though he insists he's not accusing the Pope of heresy - he gets pretty close to suggesting it could come to that.

    2. In my humble opinion, he lacks the finesse of a gentleman who understands what discretion is. Nothing wrong with asking for clarification when it is being reported some are confused, but with his now penchant for interviews regarding the subject and maybe dropping a hint or two as to "heresy" he has lost whatever credibility he had in my eyes.

Too bad he did not take the high road and seek to imitate the glorious St. Joseph in being discrete and just, while working behind the scene rather than holding court with the press.

Like I said ... just my humble opinion.

      Feliz Navidad!

    4. Yaya, I have a different pov, which is that Pope Francis is creating confusion and refusing to reconcile his statements with Church teaching. Canon lawyer that Cardinal Burke is, he wants clarification and is doing interviews to explain the problem. In my opinion he's acting out of love for the Church and his knowledge of Church teaching, Canon law and the misperception that Pope Francis may change doctrine re teaching on divorce and has, in fact, done so.

    5. Keep in mind also that I've attended a couple of his lectures and he seems quite humble to me. He also puts on a Canon law conference each summer to ensure clarity on Church teaching.

    6. I already stated a few posts back when Terry first addressed this that I too am at a loss for words as to why Papa Francis has remained silent. Frankly, I don't understand it since he talks about encounter and dialog so much.

But me, being of humble origins without any knowledge of the law whatsoever, am in no position to judge his silence.

Terry's right ... it will all work itself out.

    8. If Cardinal Burke's many interviews help speed the process of clarity along and dispell the unfortunate confusion brought on by the Holy Father's ongoing silence, then so be it.

He loves the Church, Papa Francis loves the Church, I love the Church!

      Merry Christmas everyone!
May the newborn King reign supreme in each and every one of us!
      Amen!
