"Are we prepared to promote conditions in which the living contact with God can be reestablished? For our lives today have become godless to the point of complete vacuity. God is no longer with us in the conscious sense of the word. He is denied, ignored, excluded from every claim to have a part in our daily life." - Alfred Delp, S.J.

Pillar Saints

Today is the feast of St. Symeon the Stylite.

His pillar was located outside modern day Aleppo, Syria.

Pray for the martyrs and kidnapped and tortured and raped and those fleeing the atrocities committed by ISIS in Syria and elsewhere.

St. Symeon, pray for us.

  1. What a beauty that pillar is. I am reminded of the very old Church located in the small town of Magdalena, Sonora where my grandparents lived and where I spent a good many years as a child. I hope our brothers and sisters will remember the beauty of God in their most trying moments and find peace and solace.

I hope we too will not forget so that when we enter a church to pray, we admire the beauty of our surroundings and lift all who suffer to our Merciful Father. Let's lift our hearts to Him as well. <3
