I really like this guy.

Fr. James Martin S.J.
.
He has a good post on Everyday Mysticism - his writing resonates with me and accords with another spiritual writer's book I treasure entitled Common Mystic Prayer.  A Capuchin, Fr. Gabriel Diefenbach wrote it many years ago.  Fr. Gabriel was the priest who heard my first confession when I returned to the Church - he was a very practical man.  He is dead now, but I imagine he has been among those who have  influenced me the most in the way of practical spirituality.
.
I've always liked Jesuits.
.
(Fr. Martin reminds me of Stanley Tucci.)

  1. His book about saints is an absolute gem.

  2. You know, Terry, I was expecting to read a tiresome recapitulation of something on his blog, but I really enjoyed his writings. The subject matter of his latest entry is one I can relate to on a very personal level. I'll try to remind myself to check his blog for anything new.

I've always strongly agreed with the ideas that espouse the inherent brokenness of humanity, and the longings most human beings experience in their lives.

Maybe he'll get really famous, really fast, and Stanley Tucci can play him in a movie!

  4. I wonder if I like him just because I like Stanley?

And now I wonder what I would do if I ran into an annoying convert apologist who looked like Mark Wahlberg . . .
