Here it comes ... USCCB released the following statement regarding Catholic alt-right social media groups.

No matter how bad things got, Mean Gene Okerlund was
always a gentleman when he conducted his interviews.

Warning Catholic to use extreme caution.
In response to repeated requests for comment from NBC News, the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops released the following response from their spokesman Bishop Christopher Coyne of Burlington, Vermont:
“The promotion and defense of the faith should invite an encounter with the merciful love of Christ and contribute to a more civil and peaceful dialogue in our church and society,” he said. “I urge my brothers and sisters to exercise extreme caution before giving credence to anyone who instigates shameful, digital stoning as a way to defend the Church. Catholic participation in the public square should be marked by both fidelity to the Gospel and to charity toward all our fellow citizens.” - Source

Works for me.

I'd say it's about time as well - I wish they were more specific and name the sites.  Has anyone seen the video of Michael Voris chasing down Bishop Malone?  Michael is chasing him while pulling his luggage and holding onto his shopping bag, trying to get the bishop to respond to his questions.  I never turned the sound on, but it was funny.

Vortex-TMZ style ambush interviews.

  1. "marked by both fidelity to the Gospel and to charity toward all our fellow citizens.."
Well, that's the end of some well-known types on the alt-left, then. Like the fellow who wanted death for Pope Benedict XVI and got sacked from his job for sayng so.
And boy, oh boy didn't Bishop Malone look very sheepish in that Voris video. Not much responding to the laity going on there, was there.
And as for charity towards all our fellow citizens, does that exclude the following terms used by Pope Francis towards his fellow Catholics?
    "Superficial Christians!"
    "Leprous courtier!"
    "Querulous and disillusioned pessimist!"
    "Pickled pepper-faced Christian!"
    "Little monster!"
    "Creed-reciting, parrot Christian!"
    "Smarmy, idolator priest!"
    "Starched Christians!"
    “Vain, pageant Christians!"

    Very pro-Church Militant.

  3. Church Militant was prohibited from using the word "Catholic" in the name of their organization weren't they?

    1. And the local bishop prohibiting Voris from identifying as a Catholic site has not deterred one of his followers. That is why it would not be worthwhile for the bishops to specifically name any sites. It would give those supporting these loonies more ammunition to viciously attack the bishops, as seen in the first comment here.

And as you noted, Terry, Zuhlsdorf did comment on the NBC article and literally called it “bullshit.” Yet, not one bishop will go after Zuhlsdorf. Most especially, the local in Zuhlsdorf’s area, Morlino, will never speak against Z. Morlino, of course, is not Zuhlsdorf’s Ordinary. Zuhlsdorf is incardinated in some Italian diocese. Zuhlsdorf doesn’t belong to any parish and lives off the money he makes on his blog. Not exactly St John Vianney.

    2. How do you suppose he's on staff at St Mary of Pine Bluff? Morlino is the only one who can allow him to say Mass publicly.

  4. Catholic in Brooklyn: aren't we always supposed to give others the benefit of the doubt? How have you been able to verify his source of income?

Paul Stillwell: I think subscribing to the deposit of the faith today renders one vulnerable to ridicule and criticism. Mr. Voris' idea of Catholic & the Bishops idea of Catholic are, well, at variance. It is a kind of Alice in Wonderland kind of church these days ;)

  7. F: This video, and others like it, is precisely why Rome wants CM, Lifesite and Leapanto Institute, silenced. CM, LS & LI, show them who they are.

  8. It seems that the traditionalist minded are willing to risk everything gained since the 70s because they think they can and should try to remove His Holiness. I find it bizarre that they are so anxious about an attempted abrogation of the Old Rite by Pope Francis on the hand and their constant accusations against the bishops on the other. The latter makes the former all the more likely. I was hoping to attend an FSSP or ICKSP parish soon, but I’m starting to worry that some Super-Econe event will finally kill off the traditionalist movement.
