Playing the nun-card - or just playing dress up. The School Sisters of Notre Dame do not wear habits - check out their website. Jeanine Gramick, SSND only wears a veil when she's playing dress up to impress outsiders that she speaks for the Catholic Church. Sporting a veil when she is spouting false teaching seems to me to be what Pharisees do... widen their phylacteries for the camera.
Sr. Gramick (believes) she will be vindicated by an increasingly liberal laity. She told the National Catholic Reporter that “thinking, studying, praying, in order to come to a decision which may or not be what a moral authority teaches” is “a positive thing. It’s obedience to the Spirit.” - Renegade nun...
This is how the liberated Gramick normally dresses.
Where are the bishops and canon lawyers on this one? Kathy Sebellius is a lay woman - but this woman is a religious - and thinks she is above the Magisterium. Hello?
From a sermon I recently heard on "the Lord's prayer"
ReplyDeleteA sixteenth century bishop, preaching on the Lord’s Prayer quoted a common saying of his day: “Whosoever loveth me, loveth my hound.’ So, whosoever loveth God, will love his neighbor, which is made after the image of God.” This is why we must always take care to not despise or look down on any one, whether they are rich or poor, crude or refined, Christian or heathen. When you despise another person, you despise another person who calls God Father just like you do or might by grace come to do so.
Pablo, what do you think about women not wearing veils in public places like schools, supermarkets, streets, etc?

ReplyDeleteMerc - John is probably referring to the photo I used with the comment that it looks like a reader of mine. Otherwise catching someone in a lie is definitely not the same as despising them.

ReplyDeleteMexican and Italian girls use shawls in public, veils in Church (sometimes their shawl does double duty).
I like to see girls using them.

This is deeply saddening on so many levels. It angers me so that Sr. Grammick will exploit the veil to lend credence to her view, her disobedience. In the 17 years I've been familiar with her, not once have I ever seen her wear a veil ... till now. She knows her day is over.
