One day I was on my way to Mass, and I passed a little Asian family sitting on their step. It looked like a grandfather, a boy of about 7 and a tiny little girl who looked no more than 2. She was adorable, standing on the sidewalk watching me, and as I passed her, she bowed to me. Without even thinking about it, I bowed back. It was such a beautiful gesture coming from such a young child, I nearly cried. But it bothered me a bit later that anyone would think enough of me to use one of the same gestures I've used to reverence the Real Presence in the tabernacle. I know that's not quite the point of this thread, but I had to share. Thanks :-D

Nothing tops the president of the United States giving a full bow to the Emperor of Japan while thousands of WW2 vets were still alive.
ReplyDeleteThe idiocy of that is astounding in so many ways, especially since the Japanese thought he was an idiot for it.
