Lagerfeld lets the fur fly.

"The animals would eat us if we didn't kill them." Karl Lagerfeld

.

Brains and talent, a good combination for someone who looks like Michael Jackson's mortician. In an interview, German born fashion designer for Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld, discusses wearing fur and eating meat.

.

"Animals should be killed "nicely" if at all possible, said Lagerfeld, who admitted to being queasy about eating meat.

.

"I can hardly eat meat because it has to look like something what it was not when it was alive," he said.

.

He concluded: "In a meat-eating world, wearing leather for shoes and clothes and even handbags, the discussion of fur is childish." - Telegraph

.

When is the last time baby seals, little foxes, and minks attacked people? For me the problem of wearing fur is the problem of cruelty as well as harvesting animals simply to satisfy vanity and greed. Lagerfeld should be reminded that the market for fur grows proportionately as designers use (misuse) it. Inciting countries such as China to skin dogs and cats alive to supply fur to the clothing industry.

.

On size 0 models.

.

In an interview on the Radio 4 Today programme, Lagerfeld also said the issue of size zero models was insignificant compared to the "zillions" of fat people.

.

But he said: "In France there are, I think, less than one per cent of people who are too skinny.

.

"There are nearly 30 per cent of young people who are too fat. So let's take care of the zillions of the too fat before we talk about the percentage that's left." - Telegraph

.

Lagerfeld's take on the recession.

.

In further questions Lagerfeld said he viewed the global recession as "more like a cleaning up."
"It was too rotten anyway, so it had to be cleaned up," he said.

  2. Gosh - isn't he creepy though? Wouldn't you expect whips and chains if you happened to be a guest in his house? And women with money to burn idolize him. Creepy.

  3. My husband saw this story on Drudge and then, when he was flipping channels that night on TV, a story on TMZ had a picture of KL in a swimsuit...which they compared to Donatella Versace in a swimsuit...as something that just shouldn't be done.

I think it's too bad you removed the post after this one which to me was much more interesting and I am glad I was able to see and read it in RSS.

The photo of the Dung Madonna with the notation about how irate the Catholic defense people were over it, juxtaposed with the question of whether or not the same people would be incensed by the reality of "Out of food, Zimbabweans eating cow dung" to be an important and probing question.

  7. Thanks Owen, I was afraid of offending Our Lady by showing the image. I personally found no offense in it, in fact, it took on greater meaning for me with the news story. I'll restore the post and use another photo.

  8. Terry, I am confident Our Lady is more offended when I as on of her children am not concerned about her other children than by cow dung being used to make a portrait of her. If nothing else it drew you and therefore us to make an important connection and may she assist us in our prayers and service to be more caring today than yesterday. God bless you brother.

  9. Ter: You forgot to mention the time that mutant rabbit attacked me in your yard that one time.

Lagerfeld is, how do I say, a freak? He looks like the Undertaker in the Phantasm movies. I can't even think of anything he's actually designed lately.

  10. I love Karl Lagerfeld. I'm always entertained watching his antics. He cracks me up. At least he has the courage and honesty to be who he is.

Is his get-up the newest form of the Redemptorist habit fresh out of the Paris salons? Sorry but the distinctive white starch collar on black just catipulted me back a few decades to childhood parish mission memories...Hmmm I wonder if the CSSRs ever thought of the white glove accessory?
