Remembering Tim Russert. 1950-2008
.
No, I did not know him personally - I just thought I did. For some reason he seemed to me like every ones successful brother. He always looked as if he loved his job and loved life. I would have loved to have been his best friend. May he rest in peace. Prayers for Tim and his family.
Terry, back at you - your piece is very nice as well. I particularly like your line about not having known him personally - "I just thought I did." That is the true talent of someone like Russert (I thought Jim McKay had the same talent) and I don't think it can be learned. It has to be genuine.
ReplyDeleteI just wish I'd even met him once; it would have been worth it.

I was in complete shock when I learned of his passing this afternoon after getting home from work.
ReplyDeleteI don't care what his party affiliation or political views were. I'm truly saddened to see him go.
Vincenzo has a quote from Rush Limbaugh that he was the closet any network had to an unbiased repoerter. He will be missed.
ReplyDeletemy sister was able to interview him and his wife for a column she was writing for the peace corp. my sister left their house with a sense they were very down to earth and generous individuals.
