Joanna is boggled...

She too looks askance at Catholic wanna-be celebs...

Praising Cardinal Dolan, The British Auntie writes:
There's a new fashion for indignant, muddled young(ish) fogeyish Catholics who are less well formed in the Faith than they think they are, to announce themselves as commentators on the Internet. There are a great many good and large and generous things that they could be doing, but becoming a (sort of) Catholic wanna-be celeb instead is too big a temptation, so they get excited with camera and computer and talk a lot and post it on the web. Verbal bashing of the Cardinal and other pro-life leaders and workers is their current excitement. Time to chuck it, boys. There are great and noble tasks awaiting you in your generation, and you need to get on and seek out what God is asking of you. Being an active Catholic consists of more than feeling good and being rude about the grown-ups. - Well said Cardinal Dolan!

Well said Auntie!

My, my.  She does have quite a high opinion of herself though, doesn't she.

    1. It's just the nature of the Internet.

  3. I remember Joanna Bogles side bar profile 'About Me' used to mention words to the effect, that she earned her living through writing and how the blogs might affect that detrimentally, so maybe she has a previous bias anyway, towards popular amateur 'journalists'(as she perceives them)? A more critical eye, so to speak.

Anyway, I know what she means, there's a whole load of tripe written on the blogs. I know, I've posted most of it! Not really, my stuff is all imprimatur checked by a Bishop cousin. What? ;)

    1. I know she means well - and she is a professional.

[I especially like my photo choice of Hattie Jacques - don't you?]

Joanna lives in the UK doesn't she? Of course she does, Sybil!

I recall she and her husband had a little show on EWTN. I expect that would account for her interest in the social life of an American Cardinal then.

Well that's all settled now, isn't it.

I do! I may mimic the look, should I decide to go to he Guild Meeting in London in September!!!!

"Joanna lives in the UK doesn't she? Of course she does, Sybil!"

She does. Jackie Parkes used 2 be friends with her, I recall, probably still is of course. I have never met any bloggers in real life, yet........

    3. Now I'm scared, I referred to Mr. as a 'miserable little turnip' - in jest of course - my friend Patsy said it first.

I think the Bogles are just fine - Joanna should have a cooking show some day - she'd be fun more casual.

I've met and known bloggers - in person - nothing to be impressed about. Which is why I have such a great profile photo, don't you agree?

      Of course you do Polly.

I'm not even going to say what I did when I read that line................!

"I've met and known bloggers - in person - nothing to be impressed about."

Did you have to front up their air fare first, in order to meet them though?

Simply ravishing Basil, simply divarne (divine).

Do I get to agree with you even if I'm guilty of writing for Patheos? :)

    1. Patheos is mega now! Influential as all get out. I'm honored you'd even stop by. Thanks Mark!

    2. Patheos has 2 many Mormon adverts. One never knows what religion the blog they are reading supports. (IMHO)

    3. What you fail to understand Polly, is that we now have a Catholic running with a Mormon for the presidency. So it all makes sense then, doesn't it. Yes it does. Perhaps the Major would like to comment? No? Well that's fine then.

Wanna-be celeb? Aren't you the one who wants to be famous? If you're really serious about not wanting to be famous and as pure as you claim to be, why not quit your blog?

At least be anonymous and don't let your right hand know what your left hand is doing.

  6. Response to the other Anonymous who didn't sign his name and who blogs under a pseudonym. Ha! Yet one other time you wanted me to publish my real photo so you could recognize me in church. You're a hard one to please. ;)
