So. What do the opponents of Pope Francis think and say about the Consecration?

Are they rallying around the Pope?

Where are the Cardinal critics of the Pope, who had been calling for a new consecration, on this?  Are they uniting with the Pope?  I'm told many traditionalist-Fatimists will not participate - I have no way of verifying that.  As Sr. Lucia once said regarding the secret and the 1984 Consecration, "Some people are never satisfied."

How about Fr. Z?  Is he united with the Pope?  Will he support the Holy Father?  Will he join in the Consecration?  Hard to say.  I came across the following comment on a post he did.

BUT WAIT… there’s more.

Did you notice that care of the Earth is included in the consecration? It isn’t heavy-handed, but it is there.

Also, this following comes from Ann Barnhardt, who does not even in the slightest believe that Francis is the real Pope nor that this consecration is other than something masonic … or worse. What’s worse? Here:

Now, an interesting tidbit that I was alerted to by a Spanish-speaking reader. In the Spanish, Italian and Portuguese versions of the faux-consecration text released by the Antichurch, the title “Queen of Heaven” (intact in the English version), is perverted to Queen of “tierra del Cielo” in Spanish, “terra du Céu” in Portuguese, and “terra del Cielo” in Italian. Never before have these languages used this bizarre form with the word “tierra/terra” when referring to Mary as Queen of Heaven.

What “Regina della terra del Cielo” literally means is “Queen of the land in the sky”… AND GUESS WHO GOES BY THAT TITLE??? Yup. The Pachamama demon. The “land in the sky” is one of the Pachademon’s “domains”, and “Reina del tierra del cielo” is a Pachamama title. It is “wenu mapu” in the Mapuche language and religion.

Agree or disagree with Ann about Francis, THAT is pretty disturbing.

I’ve never heard Mary referred to as Queen “of the Land of Heaven”.

This Pachamama demon thing never seems to go away.

And… I’d like to know… where is that damned black bowl NOW? - Fr. Z

The critical spirit.

From now on I want to avoid the critical spirit regarding those who oppose and resist anything and everything the Holy Father says and does.  Today's reading at Mass seems to speak to all of us, especially as a precaution against hardening our hearts and resisting the Holy Spirit.  The following stood out for me this morning:

Say to them:
This is the nation that does not listen
to the voice of the LORD, its God,
or take correction.
Faithfulness has disappeared;
the word itself is banished from their speech. - Jer 7
If today you hear his voice, harden not your hearts.
Oh, that today you would hear his voice:
“Harden not your hearts as at Meribah
as in the day of Massah in the desert
Where your fathers tempted me... - Ps 95

Whoever is not with me is against me
and whoever does not gather with me scatters. - Lk 11:23

Leave them to Heaven, I abjure the critical spirit and return to the Lord with my whole heart, for he is gracious and merciful.

RT @Pontifex: Let's prepare to live through a day of prayer in the solemnization of the Annunciation, asking that the Mother of God may encourage the hearts of those oppressed by the cruelty of war. May the act of dedication to Her Immaculate Heart bring #peace to the world.

  1. I forwarded the email I received from church. Mary is the Queen of Heaven and we're praying tomorrow at the divine liturgy for the Annunciation.

  2. I'm with you, Terry. Pope Francis is not perfect, but he is our Pope - legitimately selected by the grace of the Holy Spirit. He doesn't do everything perfectly all day and every day. But he is still our Pope and we must support him when he acts on behalf of the worldwide Church to beseech Our Lady for the protection of our brothers and sisters who are in mortal danger.

I am astonished that any faithful Catholic can pick this apart and find anything objectionable. Mr. Zelenskyy, the President of Ukraine, is Jewish, and he has been very grateful for the action he has taken to defend his people. His Holiness has been greatly concerned with the fate of Ukraine. He not only sent two cardinals to assess the situation and report on how we in the Church can assist with relieving the suffering but has visited the Russian embassy in person to beg for peace - which no pope, canonized or not, has ever done. And now he wants to consecrate Russia and Ukraine to the Immaculate Heart of Mary on the feast of the Annunciation. Thank God he is.

Who cares if the consecration has or has not been validly done in the past? If we beseech Our Lady for intercession in our personal lives by praying a Rosary, do we stop at one Rosary? No, we storm heaven and make pests of ourselves, like St. Monica.

My good pastor will be leading us in the Consecration Prayer at 12 Noon EDT tomorrow before our daily Mass, which will be the exact same time Pope Francis is consecrating Ukraine and Russia to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Is he wrong to pray and ask the rest of us to pray with him for the suffering people of Ukraine and Poland, as we have been doing for the last month? I dare anyone to say he is.

Sorry to take up so much space on your blog, my dear brother. But you know how it is with me and my big mouth.

God bless you, dear Terry, for defending PF and his efforts to end the war in Ukraine and to protect the innocent. Those who attack him must have no clue about what is at stake, and how these poor people are dying because no one else will help them except Pope Francis and the Polish nation.

    1. I thank you for your thoughts, as usual. I'm so happy everything will take place, and because everything is so serious, so urgent, I expect a wonderful peace will result, many graces distributed.

    2. Thank you, Susan. Well put!

  3. Today, Mother Miriam said the Consecration is “too late.” But, she said further, “we will see what happens.” I find the anti-Francis cabal like a critical parent the child can never satisfy. Francis shows devotion to Mary. We are in uncharted territory now.

    2. Well put, Mr. H. I think Pope Francis is doing exactly what a concerned and loving Pope should be doing. It is beyond me how anyone can find fault in his actions on the war in Ukraine. If he did nothing, the same "experts" would be criticizing that - he simply cannot win with these people.

    1. Exactly. Don't you feel it in prayer? The daily readings? I'm in awe!

    3. And the Tierra del Cielo or "earth of Heaven" is actually a Byzantine invocation.

  5. Don't worry about that Land of Heaven thing - it is actually traditional in languages other than English and goes a long way back. We monolingual anglophones then end up hearing from bomb-throwing Ann and it seems ...plausible. I will link in my next reply to an article that dissolves these doubts in the water of truth and faith.

  7. Fr. Z, why so bitter? Who pee'd in your extra extra extra virgin olive oil today? And the pettiness of the other naysayers appalls me as well. Who are they to say a prayer or consecration wasn't done correctly. God already knows the intention of our prayers - peace in hearts, our homes, our world.

  8. Angela, it is a rigid legalistic mind set that gets so tied up in the minutia of all this. I get that rules and proper form are important, but they go too far. My sister-in-law works in a rectory. A beloved Pastor recently died and a priest came out of retirement as temp. administrator. Happens I went to college with him but that is another story and beside the point. Well, every extraordinary request is now denied as “against cannon law.” Previous actions of deceased pastor, who was orthodox, criticized . Even mention of his birthday in bulletin denied. Needless to say this is driving people away. I think the Pope is attacked because his is a pastoral Pontificate, and they want an authoritarian rules regardless of extenuating circumstances.
