Prayers for all the victims of the Las Vegas shooting ...

May the angels lead you into paradise

May Christ, who called you, take you to himself;
may Angels lead you to Abraham's side.

Give them eternal rest, O Lord,
and may your light shine on them forever.
May the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.  Amen

  1. Saying and doing the sign of the cross for them...obtains a partial indulgence for those vctims who enter purgatory according to the Enchiridion of Indulgences. Do three every now and then and soon you will cover 59 people. And if that habit spreads with multiple people doing it for ongoing news murder victims....we will be relieving the imprisoned though it is a hopeful prison yet it is a cleansing by fire too.

  2. Not to derail asking for prayers. (delete it if you want) But I thought I show you the mentality of the gun nuts who sit in the Latin Mass pews:

This was posted by Ann Barnhardt on the MANDALAY MASSACRE:

"Oh, one last thing. You don’t have NEARLY enough long guns and ammo. You should get on that IMMEDIATELY." Ann Barnhardt

Your post was the sensible one.

  3. Until enough people demand sensible regulation of military style weapons these events will continue. Even Sandyhook could not do this. I am tired of platitudes for senseless death. The NRA has bought our Government. Consequently we are unsafe.

    1. From a comment I read on Fox News and one I agree with and others seem to forget:

"Let's talk about Sandy Hook since the CT Senator wants to turn this into politics. The Sandy Hook shooter was Severely Mentally ill, his mother is to blame for allowing him to learn and use firearms - storing them openly in her home and using these weapons as fun activity for them to do together...for leaving this man there alone and allowing him to do what he wanted, even if that meant doing searches on death and destruction, and spending his days focused on violence. What he does do first, kills her. So let's be clear about this situation, and that he didn't buy a gun, but used ones in his own home."

Another comment which Nevada investigators are only now beginning to discover in their reported investigations:

"The guy had the absolute wealth to procure weapons no matter what laws or restrictions may have been in place. I'm entirely open to rational discussions on guns and laws surrounding them. I think it's utterly ridiculous though when politicians jump all over gun control action when the specifics of the tragedy clearly show it would not have prevented any of it."

I believe in the right to bear arms in order to defend one's family and home. Responsible gun ownership is something I also support and yes, it is truly tragic when this right is overstepped, abused and many innocent suffer the consequences.

Most importantly, I will be praying for all of the lives lost, injured and for their families. Let's pray too for the conversion and salvation of this still great nation of ours. Mother Mary is our Patroness, let's ask her to help us work for all in devotion to her Divine Son and for love of neighbor.

    2. "The NRA has bought our Government"

Much like Planned Parenthood has bought the Democratic Party ... lock, stock and barrel. I am of the opinion that between the two, more lives have been lost by abortion than by guns in the USA.

  4. The second amendment has nothing to do with this issue. That a mother supplied a legally purchased military weapon to her son and a millionaire can find ways to purchase contraband material is also immaterial. These events happen and will continue because of greed. Profits to manufacturer and seller. They care no more for human life then an abortionist. Your pistol and rife will not protect you or your family from a sniper on the 32nd floor with military firepower. I personally know people who own these type of weapons. There are anger issues always. I expect nothing to change. Prayers for the victims are not enough.

    1. Another great comment I just read from another site and then I am off to reflect on this sad tragedy:

"The shooter had an illegal weapon, he modified his weapon illegally, how does the NRA or gun laws fit into this discussion unless you are making the point that gun laws do not work because criminals don't obey the law. Liberals continue to lie over every detail of gun use and gun crime. Our country can not be compared to other countries. We are not Norway or some country where 99% of our population are the same race, religion and culture. We have every race, religion, political perspective, extreme movement between our borders. The answer is to be tougher on crime, not more gun laws. If someone illegally creates a fully automatic weapon illegally like this murderer did, he should be given 20 yrs. Anyone picked up with a weapon who does not have the legal right to own one, should get 20 yrs. If you use a weapon in a crime, tack 20 yrs on to the sentence. The answer is not more gun laws, it's to get tough on ALL crime, including violating our existing gun laws."

    2. Yaya,
ABC and Seeking Alpha both reported today that he had two bump stocks which legally turn a semi auto into a machine gun in most states. I agree with you on normal guns. I have two shotguns and I have a criminal in this big city who insinuated he'd get me with a pistol after I beat him in a fight after he robbed my house three years ago. But I as a gun owner would like to see bump stocks or slide stocks made illegal after this although someone with athree d printer could make and sell them. Go to you tube and type in " bump stock $99". Then go 2/3 nto the video because that is all talking. In the last third you'll see a bump stock turn a semi auto into an automatic/ machine gun.

    3. Oh I am aware that folks can alter guns to suit their motives. I read somewhere that Amazon was selling bomb making materials online but who knows fact from fiction these days as it all gets tossed in together.

The experts on such matters will continue to work on getting all of this sorted out. ;)

  5. Like I first wrote, I expect no change in thinking or attempts to regulate and I expect more events to happen. It is not God's will it is man's. Moments of silence and prayers afterwards make the noneffected feel good.

    1. I will take a higher road than yours and pray and hope in man's capability to do good fully aware that while we may still fail we will also come to some good.

What happened is beyond the words of tragedy and terrible. A man with lots of money, for whatever reason, destroyed many lives as he fired off his high powered weapons from a secure location, all while he is said to have prepared for such in SECRET. Coward that he proved to be, then kills himself before the police could take him down, denying the victims justice. Woe to that poor man though as he now stands before the Lord.

Gun control, gun control, gun control ... ain't gonna matter as long as the money flows be it in secret or the light of day ... if one who seeks to do harm, one will do it regardless of tighter gun control laws.

  6. Here in NY we have the Safe Act since Sandyhook. My area is a high gun, second Amendment area with lots of hunters who are responsible gun owners. Never-the-less the yards are covered with repeal the safe act signs. Man invented the gun. Man has to control its availability and use. I have read that gun ownership raises one's risk considerably for death by gun. Be it accidental or deliberate. We had a local father shot and kill his son who he thought an intruder. So far these rampages have been in gun friendly areas. Military equipment is not sportsman equipment. Grenades and the like are regulated why not semi automatic weapons? They serve no hunting purpose. Again it is all about money and profit for munitions industry. If we accept availability by general population then these events are inevitable. How did security at the hotel not be suspicious? If they knew one lone man brought in 10 suitcases how did they not investigate?

That is what I was asking earlier. For sure the casinos/hotels are watching to see if they catch cheaters at the gambling table but a suspicious man who was holed up in a corner room for about three days prior to mass murder?

From all reports, they never blinked until it was too late.

    2. Security at the hotel is most likely accustomed to guests bringing in tons of luggage because Vegas is a major venue for trade shows and sales meetings.

  7. Semi-automatic weapons are often used for hunting. Not sure why you think otherwise. Note also that the second amendment isn't about hunting. See Lexington and Concord, George IIIs attempted gun grab. The second amendment is there to protect us against the government.

Excess luggage isn't a trigger; now they'll likely have security screening for luggage.

    1. They shouldn't be used for hunting - unfair advantage - we hunt for sport.

  8. What exactly would you hunt with a semi? What would be left? The British Crown outlawed guns to repress rebellion. Just what do you expect to need such weapons for against the government? I hear this argument all the time. It makes no sense to me. The ballot box has been our defense against the government. This issue is about profit. The arguments fostered are red herrings.

    1. It's the conspiracy theorizing right-wing-nuts who want guns for self defense when the government comes to take them to prison for whatever they imagine a totalitarian regime will outlaw. The NRA is definitely about profit - unfortunately they also have the cash to take care of the politicians who support them and refuse to discuss legislation. There is no need for automatic weapons for sport. They are weapons of war, and as Paddock demonstrated weapons of mass destruction. Conceal and carry handguns were no protection.
