Sometimes I play a game with myself where I try to imagine Raymond in jeans and a tee shirt, disheveled, and maybe changing the oil in his car or something. Doesn't happen. I was pleasantly surprised at his writing style. I have enjoyed reading his books.
He avoids this issue. Here are the controversial passages again http://eucharistandmission.blogspot.it/2016/06/here-are-controversial-passages-again.html
Raymond is pretty full of himself. He is good at self promoting his books. I cringe when he does his imitation of Mother Angelica. He thinks it is hilarious. I do not take him seriously but more like a tabloid journalist with a focus on and promotion of EWTN. I avoid his "news show." I have tried to read his books but that they to are, in my mind, fluff pieces. I am sure there is a story to be told about Mother Angelica and an inspirational one at that but Raymond just comes across as the class brown nose and that detracts from the story for me.

He makes his bias fairly obvious at times. Sometimes I think he gets a bit star struck.
DeleteThere is so much that is run together on that website, that I have no idea what the point is. I doubt that I will ever be able to figure it out.

ReplyDeleteHaha! You pretty much said what I think but never say.
DeleteI find it hard to get past his resemblance to PeeWee Herman but enjoyed his book about Mother Angelica.
