We have the largest Somali community in the United States. Recently we've been reminded of that fact after two ISIS jihadists from Minneapolis were killed in Syria.

Somali parents and leaders of the local Somali community are just as unhappy with these developments as the rest of us.
I wonder how many terrorists are embedded in the United States right now?
And this guy went to fight for a terrorist group, Al-Shabaab, almost all of whose victims are Muslims, mostly Somali Muslims who disagree with them. And Al-Shabaab also killed one of their own, Alabama-born Omar Hamami who was a prolific user of social media to spread their toxic jihadist cause.
ReplyDeleteWith freedom there always comes a price and hiding in plain view is one of them. These folks have no love for this country which though imperfect, has welcomed them with open arms.
ReplyDeleteThe Islamic State’s proclaimed Caliph Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi told American guards,
“I’ll see you guys in New York,” when he was released in 2009.
He is said to have warned Rome and Spain that he plans to "roll into town" on those two venerable places as well. I hope they heed that warning since one can never know if the seeds are already planted and just waiting for instruction.
I can only hope if such an event occurs, the people will resist and defend their homelands.
My prayers are for all...we here at home, while still comfortable, must continue to pray that the Lord heeds our prayer. I believe He does since the other night while at Mass, it came very strong to me the inspiration to give thanks since I am still privileged to attend Mass while my brothers and sisters suffer greatly elsewhere because it has been taken from them especially in Syria.
When we visited my husband's brother in Leeds, Maine, last year we went to Mass at a nearby town. Not far from the church was a large Somali Center. His brother said many had settled in the area. You don't want to judge and presume evil intent, but with our lax immigration policies who knows how many bad guys are coming in?

DeleteKyle Loven, the FBI’s Chief Division Counsel in Minneapolis, said residents traveling to Syria is a “relatively recent dynamic,” but still only an “evolution” of young disaffected Minnesotans leaving their homes to fight and die with extremist groups abroad.
“The phenomenon began in 2007 with the young Somali men traveling from Minnesota to Somalia,” Loven said. “In Somalia, it started as a nationalistic call… [but] we’ve now seen where some individuals perhaps are not interested or not inclined to travel to Somalia, [they] start to branch out to other hot spots around the globe, obviously Syria being among them.”
