The Queen and Pope Francis look on as the Duke of Edinburgh points out a fine bottle of Balmoral whisky in the discount gift basket they presented to the Holy Father. - Story here.
Developing - Alcoholics react:

"Untold numbers of Catholic and Anglican 'recovering' alcoholics have returned to the drink!" claimed longtime AA sponsor KF.  "In my home, there was outrage, embarrassment, sadness, disbelief, and further reason for my 16-year-old to move as far away from her religion as possible and as soon as she can." - CNA

  1. Gee...what gives? Can't folks have any fun these days? The Queen looked quite happy in showing Papa Francis her gifts to him. I bet that Balmoral whiskey will go down smooth after a long day plowing the fields and planting seeds in the Lord's Vineyard. ^^

Leave them alone! They have joy and peace and seem to have gotten along quite well sharing those precious gifts among themselves. <3

    Viva Cristo Rey!

    Viva il Papa!

    Long live the Queen!

    Thanks Terry...have a good night. <3

    1. You know I'm just having fun.

I love the gifts - I'd rather have little George's gift though.

    2. Yeah...I know. A bit of fun is a good thing especially in these dark times in which we live. ;p

That blue orb was a very nice touch, btw. I hope HRH Georgie will truly appreciate such a fine gift. ^^)

  2. Nice political statement there; Scotland's ours and we're gonna keep it!

  3. I had a dream about this. It was horrific. Just like in the days of Noah. Eating and drinking. *DRINKING* The False Prophet is bringing upon us the New Deluge - the waters from the dragon's mouth. Keep a watch out - a Novus Ordo watch - for the abomination of desolation.

True Sabbath is Friday sunset to Saturday sunset, RC changed the Sabbath day and admits it:

“Of course the Catholic Church claims that the change (Saturday Sabbath to Sunday) was her act… And the act is a MARK of her ecclesiastical authority in religious things.” H.F. Thomas, Chancellor of Cardinal Gibbons. Nov. 11, 1895
How important is to observe the Sabbath
But as for you, speak to the sons of Israel, saying, ‘You shall surely observe My sabbaths; for this is a sign between Me and you throughout your generations, that you may know that I am the LORD who sanctifies you.’Therefore you are to observe the sabbath, for it is holy to you. Everyone who profanes it shall surely be put to death; for whoever does any work on it, that person shall be cut off from among his people.…-Exodus 31:13, 31:14

    1. I just have one thing to say to that:

"Oh Minnie Driver, who ever told you, you could pull off a leather jumpsuit?"

And don't you dare break the Sabbath with an answer.

I have the impression that this view was well represented among the parents who came to the meeting. And in my own home we would have been ok with Pope Francis being pleased with the gift of alcohol if not for his comment that us alcoholics have patronized from 500 to a 1000 different bars. An impossible number because most of us only patronize a favorite few and he only said it to make us look like lascivious lushes.

  6. The Sabbath was made for man, not man for the Sabbath.

  7. With each passing day, these past 10 days, that Balmoral Whiskey sure sounds tantalizing. I can just about now sit under the shade of the huge pine tree in the backyard and sip on it nice and easy...Balmoral on the rocks, please!

Anyway, the story of the Holy Father and the Queen's meeting is still a nice one that makes me smile. It is one I can still comment on without feeling like I know nothing. ^^
