Russian vodka lovers unite!
Man! If there ever was a cause I could get behind!
Off to the liquor store ...
Ban the boycott.
What a wonderful excuse to drink!
Ed. Note: What are people protesting?
Russian President Vladimir Putin signed the legislation into law in June, which imposes fines on individuals accused of spreading "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations" to minors. It also imposes penalties on those who advocate homosexuality online or in the news, and it bans gay pride rallies, according to an Aug. 1 Associated Press article.
Make sure its Russian vodka.
ReplyDeleteДа!
DeleteIt really isn't funny.

Uh but Thom....those intrinsically evil "teenagers." deserved it I am sure...and well, you know, they arent going to adopt their Russian kids to gay couples even though no one wants to adopt Russian kids cause a lot of them are screwed up, though gay couples still will..so you know, its better that they sit in some cinder block "Care," center and not have anyone adopt them but those gays cause that's good old fashioned Catholic family values!
DeleteI was at an orphanage in St. Petersburg 3 years ago, until Terry adopted me.
DeleteWhat?
And I'm thinking of sending you back.
DeleteNan..now that is ridiculous.. It could never happen..Terry's a homo!
DeleteWe're all homos. Homo sapiens.
DeleteYou like that they HATE faggots? Hmm good self esteem..
ReplyDeleteWhat's there to "huh," about? Your gay..uh SSA and you are obviously making fun of the boycott of ruskie vodka and the pressure on the Olympics to not have it in Russia. Actually you are seem to be actively supporting Russia's policy of threatening to arrest gay people, which seems just "odd," coming from anyone, much less someone "SSA". I get it if you say its just stupid that gay bars are getting rid of Stoli, as Stoli has been fighting the Russian govt for some time, but as it is you seem to be pandering to uh, I guess you would call it OSA people with your post. So lets put it this way, from a group that is so "sensitive," that they equate gay marriage with taking away their "religious liberty," and one more step in the "war on Catholics," how would they feel if Russia, always the most ardent supporter of any organized religion, especially Roman Catholics, would say they are going to arrest any Catholic coming into the country? Perhaps they could bi-locate out of it?
ReplyDeleteHuh?
DeleteThe boycott is stupid.
Mack, as one gay blogger put it - and I paste and copy here:
Delete"
Lots of agitation in the gaysphere about new anti-gay laws in Russia, especially in light of the Winter Olympics to be held there at Sochi.
I certainly don't blame gays for the homegrown dislike of homos in Russia. But if you are a Russian not of the Davos Man persuasion and see what effects the LGBT movement has had in the West, --- to say nothing of Pussy Riot's desecration of a highly symbolic Moscow Cathedral--why would you not put your foot down early and hard?
You should welcome gay liberation when you know that down the road ordinary businesspeople will be sued for not wanting to photograph samesex weddings or make samesex wedding cakes, or fined and silenced for hatespeech for quoting the Bible? The Church of England is now being sued to force it to hold gay weddings. If you learn anything about gay politics, --or any liberal grievance victim group--it is that it is never enough: each step won is only preliminary to the next one. So why not nip the whole thing in the bud?
LGBTs in America constitute between 3-4% of the population, no more by the latest info. That's the gay men and the lesbians and the bisexuals and the transgenders all together. You could put us all into the state of Pennsylvania and the rest of the country would be completely empty of LGBTs. Can you imagine one state having this much power? And for this tiny demographic, think of all the legal changes in the last decades."
Mack, you are absolutely out of line. Would you say the same of Muslim countries where gays are killed? Note also that there isn't freedom of religion in Saudi Arabia; there isn't a church in the place and your bibles and even a crucifix necklace are illegal and could get you killed.
DeleteAs for Russia, it wasn't that long ago that being Catholic of any rite could get you sent to Siberia.
Why is it that people with traditional morals are always told that you can't legislate morality but then the left legislates in a way that having morals is illegal?
There are many cases in which same sex couples target businesses owned by people with traditional values, knowing they won't support a same sex marriage, are turned away due to strong religious convictions then sued because of it. It's religious discrimination pure and simple as people are not being allowed to live their faith.
Nan..read my post again..I am quite aware of the Russian persecution of Catholics..which is why I am surprised that a Catholic blogger especially a gay one..would make fun of people being killed and jailed in Russia. Especially for being the same thing he is.
ReplyDeleteLeave it at Catholic blogger. I thought he was making fun of the people boycotting Stoli, esp. since the Stoli they're boycotting isn't actually made in Russia. Did you miss the part of the post that said what a wonderful excuse to drink? Or the reference to Kat? If you don't know her, she occasionally references alcohol in her posts.
DeleteNo I said that in my post..totally agree that its stupid to boycott Stoli...(besides the fact that it sucks) and that it has nothing to do with what is going in Russia. Just think its a bit odd to think its hi-freakin-larious that they are jailing/killing people when a few years ago they would have done the same for anyone walking down the street with a rosary. Right now they sure wouldn't roll out the welcome matt for you...Catholics are still considered "others," in good old Russia... But hey, they hate the fags so aces for them right..until you have to share a jail cell with one of them. Don't drop the rosaries is all Im saying.
DeleteFor what its worth I thought the Chik-Fil-A thing was stupid...the president can say what he wants to say...(well, once again, I boycott that cause the food is crap) but having a personal political opinion is different then this.
Mack, I've been to Russia and while there aren't a lot of Catholic churches, I was able to go to Mass on Sunday. I typically go to daily Mass a few times a week and was unable to do so both due to distance and time as we were on a very optimistic schedule. Russia was against all religion and while at the church of St. Nicholas( think it was a St. Nicholas it was the Navy church and a double decker)we were told a story about an Admiral who visited the Church and was told he had to venerate God. He knelt in the Church and after his example, sailors were no longer afraid to show their religion.
DeleteAt St. Isaac's Cathedral, there's an icon of the Mother of God that was taken home and cared for by parishioners after the Bolsheviks took over. In the late 90's, when it appeared to be safe to do so, their now elderly daughter returned it to the Church. There were also many in rural areas whose homes were plastered with icons as they took them home for safe-keeping. Now many have been returned to the Church.
Terry, how does people getting sued equal people getting jailed and killed?
ReplyDeleteMack and Thom - Russia has banned "propaganda of nontraditional sexual relations" - in essence, promoting gay as an alternative lifestyle leading to gay marriage. The law is an effort to ban 'indoctrination' through media and education - to protect children.
DeleteViolence against gay people is not mandated in Russia nor sanctioned. If people are harassed and killed, the perpetrators are committing a crime. It happens all around the world.
If Russian citizens break the law they are arrested. Maybe Obama and congress should declare war on Russia because they gave asylum to Snowden and have laws we disagree with?
The boycott is stupid. Russia is a sovereign nation and has passed laws against gay propaganda. The Russians are smarter than the West.
Promoting the gay lifestyle is promoting sinful behavior and such promotion is grave scandal - and leads souls to 'perdition' if you will.
Your intolerance of religious faith is showing through. Likewise your cheap shot that I am somehow trying to please OS readers reveals your own deep seated insecurity and lack of validation.
Call me what you will, homosexual behavior is disordered and gravely sinful. God bless the Russians for standing up for the truth.
Don't go to Russia and/or don't watch the Olympics if you don't like it.
As for Catholics in Russia it is true there are laws against proselytism - but the issue cannot be compared to the moral conflict gay activism presents.
Thom - I included you simply because you gave me the news links - I'm directing the comment chiefly to Mack and the personal shots he made at me.
DeleteGod bless the Russians? Your kidding me???That says it all!If North Korea and China outlaw gay "propaganda" are you going to promote them? God bless the Russians???
DeleteWas that bad to say then?
Delete"Your intolerance of religious faith is showing through. Likewise your cheap shot that I am somehow trying to please OS readers reveals your own deep seated insecurity and lack of validation."
DeleteOn the contrary. I know you said it was mostly directed to Mack, but since I don't know which parts apply to me and which don't, I'll go ahead.
My faith is VERY important to me. I took no shots. And I grow more "secure" every day that I work toward integrity.
Thanks Thom. I know you didn't take any shots.
DeleteI believe you are indeed growing in integrity as well.
Terry - I'll bring by borscht and Beluga, and we'll cheer on the Ruskies next summer, 'k?
ReplyDeleteYou won't have to wait until next Summer. The Winter Olympics are next February.
DeleteI'll bring the blinis.
Even better!
DeleteThom, thoughts on this? http://www.lifesitenews.com/news/gay-principal-at-ontario-catholic-school-loses-license-over-partners-sexual
ReplyDeleteThom and Mack, between the story above (of a man with ssa working as a Catholic school principal and hiring two male lovers who abused kids at the school) and the story about the same sex couple in Australia who adopted a Russian baby boy and molested him for nearly a decade, I don't think you have a leg to stand on.
ReplyDeleteViolence against ssa activists? No. Be wary of them and keep them away from kids and schools and families? Yes.
Thanks Jericho.
DeleteJericho..don't be ridiculous. Shall I link to all the abuse cases involving straight people sex abuse and children? Uh maybe like the one in Cleveland?Uh maybe like hundreds of other ones? Quit projecting your own sexual compulsions on other gay people.
DeleteMack, show me a case where heterosexuals used a surrogate to manufacture a child for the purpose of a) having sex with the child; b) creating child porn and c) providing the child to other molesters. This is a particularly egregious example as these two were touted as an example of a loving homosexual family and publicized on tv.
DeleteNote also that typically heterosexuals don't adopt children for the purpose of molesting them as the Duke employee and his partner did.
Mack,
DeleteYou are aware that, per capita, more sex offenders claim to be same-sex attracted than opposite-sex attracted. In other words, if you make it a percentage of the entire population, far more same-sex attracted persons offend than opposite-sex attracted. No, not every ssa person is a sex offender, but among ssa persons, far more are indeed that than their osa counterparts.
Sorry, but thems the facts, Mack. No one should discriminate, but as I said, be careful when it comes to children (keep mom and dad in sight) and prevent all forms of propaganda.
And yes, let us tip a few back!
Or Dad and Dad..believe me..you don't want to cross that team.
DeleteBTW - I do not condone violence against gay people. I hold to Church teaching. In that regard:
ReplyDelete"There is an effort in some countries to manipulate the Church by gaining the often well-intentioned support of her pastors with a view to changing civil-statutes and laws. This is done in order to conform to these pressure groups' concept that homosexuality is at least a completely harmless, if not an entirely good, thing. Even when the practice of homosexuality may seriously threaten the lives and well-being of a large number of people, its advocates remain undeterred and refuse to consider the magnitude of the risks involved.
10. It is deplorable that homosexual persons have been and are the object of violent malice in speech or in action. Such treatment deserves condemnation from the Church's pastors wherever it occurs. It reveals a kind of disregard for others which endangers the most fundamental principles of a healthy society. The intrinsic dignity of each person must always be respected in word, in action and in law.
But the proper reaction to crimes committed against homosexual persons should not be to claim that the homosexual condition is not disordered. When such a claim is made and when homosexual activity is consequently condoned, or when civil legislation is introduced to protect behavior to which no one has any conceivable right, neither the Church nor society at large should be surprised when other distorted notions and practices gain ground, and irrational and violent reactions increase." Letter to Bishops, CDF
A few more facts:
ReplyDeleteOver 80% of sexual abuse done by priests occurred on teenage boys. This was overwhelmingly a homosexual problem. In addition, an overwhelming majority of pedophiles also claim homosexuality as their sexual preference. A very recent (2000) study published in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that "The best epidemiological evidence indicates that only 2-4% of men attracted to adults prefer men. In contrast, around 25-40% of men attracted to children prefer boys. Thus, the rate of homosexual attraction is 6-20 times higher among pedophiles." Yet another recent study in the Archives of Sexual Behavior found that "Pedophilia appears to have a greater than chance association with two other statistically infrequent phenomena. The first of these is homosexuality... Recent surveys estimate the prevalence of homosexuality, among men attracted to adults, in the neighborhood of 2%. In contrast, the prevalence of homosexuality among pedophiles may be as highas 30-40%." A 1989 study in the Journal of SexResearch noted that "...the proportion of sex offenders against male children among homosexual men is substantially larger than the proportion of sex offenders against female children among heterosexual men...the development of pedophilia is more closely linked with homosexuality than with heterosexuality."
I think it is awfully charitable of the Church to be as loving and caring with ssa persons as she is. She loves me, after all, and I consider myself far worse.
But lets not ignore the facts, Mack. When she says "disordered" and uses this term Thomistically, she means it.
Studies are studies and they can all be accused of being skewed no matter what. The "majority," of reputable research says:
Delete• Pedophilia is defined as an adult having "recurrent, intense sexually arousing fantasies, sexual urges, or behaviors involving sexual activity with a prepubescent child or children (DSMIV, reference below)."
• Pedophilia is almost exclusively found in men, and the great majority of these men identify as heterosexual.
• Even among people who sexually abuse children of their same gender, most are attracted to adults of the opposite gender .
• Sexual orientation, whether heterosexual or homosexual, describes attractions to and sexual behavior with consenting adults. Sexual behavior directed at children is a disorder or a crime, and does not constitute a sexual orientation.
We can go through a million studies and you can cherry pick the ones to suit your argument, but the bulk of the studies show the above. You can say they were politically influenced...(what those shrinks thought they would be voted out)and a million other things but there it is..the bulk or reputable research.
I know you have professed your background and interest in various sordid activities, and I am glad that you have hopefully found comfort, and love and most of all, restraint in the Church. However like recovering alcoholics and smokers, you have no clue that healthy people can do certain things that you take to an unhealthy, obsessive compulsive extreme. Because your gay and can't turn porn off, or have a drink or have a respectful, healthy adult relationship with a man or a woman, you think that everyone else has the same problem with control or restraint. But that...Jericho..you would be quite wrong.
Terry and Jericho...you are mighty warriors in the service of Truth. God bless you both, and keep standing in the face of the hurricane, persevering to the end...you are inspiration.
