What's a 'right-wing nut'?

Oh, they are real.  Some even have blogs.

"When asked for his employment status, Anders Breivk  described himself as a writer.  The 33-year-old mass-murderer, who admits killing eight in an Oslo bomb blast and 69 in a shooting spree on the island of Utoya last July, remained emotionless as prosecutors spent two hours describing in graphic detail how each of his victims died."Read about it here.

"When asked for his employment status, Anders Breivk described himself as a writer."  All rightey then.

  1. I bet he sold coffee. I bet his readers donated for trips to Rome.

  2. Or not, but it would be funny.

  3. OUCH! I've never understood that whole thing Thom. I don't know it just seems somehow not right but that's just me.

  4. I'm always wary when a priest is in another hemisphere than his Ordinary for long periods of time. That isn't how it's supposed to work.

  5. If you thought of Guarnizo too when I said that, it worked. ;)

In general, this blog sometimes seems to be a "safe place" to ridicule - even in indirect of ways - Fr. Z.

I think the time wasted mocking him through words or pictues of him could better be spent contacting him personally to voice concerns.

  7. You're the first person you said the "Z" word. Lots of writers sell their wares and expect donations.

  8. Terry - Anders is innocent. It was self-defense - just ask him...

Someone who sells coffee, frequents Rome, and is a priest not close by his Ordinary - I thought it was obvious to infer that you were referring to Fr. Z, Thom, but of course I can't tell for sure. If I spoke hastily, I apologize.

    1. Minus the Ordinary bit, the other two could be a handful of people.

A little while back, Terry quoted St. Francis de Sales - seems fitting to call to mind here.

"FROM rash judgments proceed mistrust, contempt for others, pride, and self-sufficiency, and numberless other pernicious results, among which stands forth prominently the sin of slander, which is a veritable pest of society.

I entreat you never speak evil of any, either directly or indirectly; beware of ever unjustly imputing sins or faults to your neighbour, of needlessly disclosing his real faults, of exaggerating such as are overt, of attributing wrong motives to good actions, of denying the good that you know to exist in another, of maliciously concealing it, or depreciating it in conversation. In all and each of these ways you grievously offend God, although the worst is false accusation, or denying the truth to your neighbour’s damage, since therein you combine his harm with falsehood.

Those who slander others with an affectation of good will, or with dishonest pretences of friendliness, are the most spiteful and evil of all. They will profess that they love their victim, and that in many ways he is an excellent man, but all the same, truth must be told, and he was very wrong in such a matter; or that such and such a woman is very virtuous generally, but and so on. Do you not see through the artifice?" - Introduction, Chapter XXIX

    1. I'm not sure that that happened here, but it is good advice nonetheless.

  12. This post has absolutely zero to do with Fr. Z or any other priest for that matter.
