As for who would ever vote for Trump -- I just overheard some folks today in a doctor's waiting room who would. The rational given was that Trump knows how to make and invest money, and that his business dealings with international companies gives him knowledge of foreign affairs.

Spotty records, what's he hiding insinuation, etc. All familiar territory. Dan Rather and CBS news bit and bit hard on some rather poorly done false records as well, so eager were they for the smoking gun.
People are just going to have to get used to the fact that not everything was neatly kept and organized in computer databases in the old days (actually, my birth certification was filed 7 years after my birth, and poorly written as well). Thank heavens I will never run for public office.
If Pres. Obama were white, would this be an issue, Random Friar? We both know that it would not be.
ReplyDeleteAustringer - Hi! Trump knows money but he also lost alot of it sometime back, and his Casino went bankrupt not too long ago. People said the same thing about Ross Perot as well - he knew business and finance.
ReplyDeleteAs for the racism charge I'm not so quick to claim that - or at least I wasn't until learning that Trump now wants to have O's college records made public. It seems he can't understand how Obama got into Harvard.
The whole thing is stupid - but it is what goes on in politics. I think Trump is mixed up in the whole presidential pig-pile just to create a diversion and divide conservatives and tea party people.

ReplyDeleteThom, if President Obama was a white man whose father was from South Africa, and he refused to show his birth certificate, yes, there would be a problem. If you recall there were questions about McCain's eligibility and his parents were both American Citizens.

ReplyDeletePresident Bush was white. At least when the National Guard records were being sought. If there's any possible scandal, or slight whiff of a *cover-up* of a scandal, the attack bloodhounds from the other party will be released.
ReplyDeleteLet's say, in theory, that a white nominee for the GOP had spent two years of his or her youth bumming rides through Europe, and youth are sometimes wont to do. In the age before wide use of credit cards, what would we know? Maybe he or she brings out a few photos, a few letters to family... "That proves NOTHING!" comes the cry. The Left would be making and demanding all sorts of "real" proof as to what the nominee was *really* doing the whole time. He or she could have lineage from the Mayflower, and it would not make much of a difference. The angle of attack might be a little different, but the real animus and drive would almost certainly be partisan.

ReplyDeleteThe only thing I know is that he supports legislation and promotes a culture which allows women to kill their children during the first nine months of their existence, does NOT support emergency life support for infants who miraculously survive the torture and brutality of abortion, and puts judges on the bench who feel the exact same way.
My question - 'was he born?' lines up with what Cathy said - he certainly doesn't demonstrate any humanity when it comes to life issues.
ReplyDeleteHow a person who has felt their child kicking in utero, wept tears on seeing their little one thumbsucking on ultrasound, seen their child come into this world, been awed at their newborn reaching for their parents' protection and warmth from the bassinet - and I've no doubt the President has seen and done all of that - how that person could EVER think that ANY child could EVER be a "punishment" to this broken world - that is beyond my comprehension.
