Funnily enough, one year ago, when the Year of the Priest was announced, I remember thinking to myself about my parish priests, "Oh, no! Now they'll be talking about themselves all year!"

Ha! That was hardly the case: we got nine days of priest-themed homilies leading up to the Year of the Priest and nine days of the same as the dedicated year came to an end.

And I also remember Mary Smith's advice to the two young women at the end of G.K. Chesterton's Manalive: choose the man who looks outward and goes outward--the man who has interests other than himself.

Just some scattered thoughts on a video I'm glad you posted, which can really speak for itself.

  2. I second Enbrethiliel.
This horrid abuse of children/youths is a deep, spiritual sickness; this modern age while condemning such things, advocates them, as well.
Priests absolutely MUST be "for others"...our Lord, our Church, the faithful; if not, it is truly a "narcissistic" culture that must be purified, weeded-out, condemned.
