La Morenita

N.S. Candelaria

O, Son of God, who became man in the womb of the Blessed Virgin,
we thank you for giving your consent to be brought to the temple by your Mother
in order to be presented to God the Father in payment for our sins against divine justice.
By the infinite merits of your presentation in the temple of Jerusalem,
and through your act of redeeming us, grant us the grace we need.
O Jesus, Light of the World,
enlighten our minds and be our guide in this valley of tears.
Give us living faith, firm hope and a burning love of God and neighbor,
so that in the hour of death we can, like the prophet Simeon, say
“ Now O Lord you can dismiss your servant in peace
for my eyes have seen the salvation of your people – Israel.”

    1. Haha! Actually this is a Christmas card I made for a friend - it's pencil. I made one or three versions. If I was famous just think how great that would be, but I am sure most people throw such things away.

  2. Did you know she’s aka “Our Lady of Copacabana”...not sure if this is the same “devotion” as promoted by Bl. Barry Manilow! :)

    2. Actually, we have her statue in our parish church by the baptistry and will be having special prayers in her order this Sunday after the masses. Sadly it was partially vandalized a few months ago, then repaired and will have a plexi-glass casing soon.

  3. I volunteer to help "La Morenita" out with her precious baby boy. Our little Lord Jesus looks like he will wiggle out of his mama's arms and soon! ^^ She can direct me to stand ate her right and I will gladly catch Him and hold him for her. <3 <3

    3. Especially the noble Simeon.

I bet he delighted Anna while he wiggled about in Mama Mary's arms.
