What is wrong with this picture?

United States press was shut out, but Russian press was in the room.

Just after Comey was accelerating the investigation of Russian influence on the election of the president ... and just after Comey was fired.

What amazes me is how Trump supporters, many of them Catholic, overlook things like this.  Remember how many of these same people called out Obama and circulated all of the conspiracy theories right-wingnuts drummed up about him.  I may be wrong, but not a few among those Catholics who support(ed) Trump also buy into the conspiracy theories circulated about Pope Francis.

I don't get it.  Something is so wrong.

I lived through Nixon - I don't want to be fooled again.

There's something happening here but what it is ain't exactly clear...

Song for this post here.

  1. I agree. All too many people take an all-or-nothing approach to politics. Might I remind my fellow Catholics who also voted for Trump of a couple things.

    - It's ok and still defensible to have voted for Trump as a means to stop the clearly greater evil that was Hillary Clinton.
    - Having voted for Trump does not mean that you need to defend every stupid thing that he does. This just makes you look foolish.

  2. It was because of my Catholicism that I did not vote for either candidate. Just couldn't make myself support either.

I had to listen to a family member the other day rant about how this is the "Russia spreading her errors" thing. I called bullcrap because for one thing I no longer believe all the Fatimist Apocalypse bunk and also because, well, Communism only seems to be alive in college campuses.

    1. The errors were already propagated - we're experiencing the results. We're on a trajectory - so when the war actually arrives, no one will be thinking of the election scandals or who heads the FBI.

    2. I don't believe a war is coming. I can't. Maybe I'm sticking my head in the sand but I wasted too much of my life sweating over a WWIII that I was never certain was even going to happen.

    3. Haha! Actually I did too - too much time spent worrying about it and wondering when it will begin. This may be my "Moonstruck" moment and admit I don't really believe it either. ;) Or do I?

  3. I went to bed yesterday very shaken by that picture. I am going to bed tonight very shaken again by his interview with Lester Holt. Politics aside, totally aside I believe he is not well. He is doing and saying very bizarre things. One report that I just cannot accept as accurate is that he told a reporter straight faced that he coined the term "prime the pump." Today FBI raided a Maryland GOP organization, three grand juries are now active. Here in NY with RICO overtones. This is all very very untoward. I continue to pray to St Joseph for him but I am now praying for us all. Never been alarmist, but I just am very uneasy that one false step could lead to a world wide calamity. Politics totally aside this is serious stuff without precedence.

    1. I'm with you to a great extent. I have no confidence in this administration and the double talk coming out of it - the pressers are beyond belief, the lies - straight up, in your face nonsense. The deliberate flaunting in your face questionable behavior and snark from Trump. It's crazy - and social media is making it worse. I think he is a mega narcissist - I just heard today he's in a Twitter war with Rosie O'Donnell? What is wrong with this man?

I voted for Trump as the alternative to the Marxist in the government and media. But the country is too far gone in that direction. I expect very serious consequences for the world and USA especially from God as a customer. Maybe this year the 100th anniversary of Fatima. Only if the world repents of it's crimes of abortion, contraception and homosexual marriage will it be averted in my humble opinion. I am a same sex attracted male in COURAGE. I have contributed to the evil Only Our Lady can save us now in my humble opinion.

  5. The blindness, pride, and folly of the Catholic Trump supporter astonishes me.

    1. Mark, I'm not sure where all of these prideful Catholic Trump supporters that you continuously mention are. Almost every Catholic I know of (including myself) who voted for Trump did so because he was clearly the lesser evil, not because they thought he was a great candidate. You're either vastly over-emphasizing a rather small contingent of people, or you're imagining straw-man based on what you've been watching on secular media, which you clearly follow way too closely.

  6. Mark I agree, but I see the same on the other side as well. We would be in a mess even if Hillary had won. Just reversed. Trump supporters have invested their anger and hopes that he can bring change. The folly of man has always been that he is in control of everything. I believe it is inevitable that he will have to resign, be convicted or continue to cause chaos and confusion. He does seems to like that. I am amazed how he throws all his supporters and staff under the bus. All you get is "that is Trump being Trump." or "that is why I voted for him" Well here we are captive to his whims and tantrums. I give up on American politics but not on God's ability to intervene somehow.

Wallace and Mark I agree Trump was not good alternative but I can't in good conscience vote for pro abortion candidates as a Catholic. Everything is in God's hands now. That is where my faith lies not in any human being. God bless you all

    2. Thank you Ron. We had no "good choices" in that election. Let's hope that changes in the next one.

    3. The issue is not the election. Appeals to "But Hillary!" are rationalizations. The problem is that now--right now--Catholic Trump supporters defend every lie, cruelty and incompetence this wicked and stupid man commits. And they typically do it by saying "But Hillary!". Hillary lost. Move on. Live in the present. Oppose this evil and seductive con man and the wicked stuff he is doing right now. This is especially the onus on those who voted for him as the "lesser of two evils." If you knew he was evil and you voted for him, you bear a heavy burden to opposed the evils you knew he would do.
