David Bowie Died

Never liked his work.

Too effeminate, too androgynous, too gay ...

RIP

    1. As do I. :)

My all time favorite though is "Wild is the Wind."

  2. I never liked his work either. However, I forgot he was married to Iman (the model) and they've been married for 24 years. I'll give him props for that. RIP

    1. She's very beautiful and they seemed to have lived a relatively low-key life.

  3. For what it's worth, I heard on the morning talk show radio that when he was doing drugs, he tried guys but discovered he was a "raging heterosexual." I don't know if it's true: morning commute talk guys (consider the source). I would not be able to recognize a single sung he wrote. But I did find _The Man Who Fell to Earth_ interesting.

    1. I don't know if he was a raging hetero - but otherwise I think his sexual choices were not unusual for his place in British society ....

    2. He was interviewed by Playboy magazine back in the day and admitted that his claiming to be gay "was a huge mistake because he really was a closet heterosexual all along."

Maybe the gay thing was just for show ... I was and am a fan regardless.

May our Lord Jesus look kindly upon him and grant him eternal rest.

  4. When Bowie first hit the scene, I just didn't like his music. I couldn't see what the fuss was about. I saw many rock n' roll acts back then (the Rolling Stones, the Who, Rod Stewart, Eric Clapton, the Allman Brothers, etc, etc) and engaged in debauchery but I just thought David Bowie was, well, a "square" and his music unlistenable.

    3. Crisis has a good article by Fr. George Rutler on Bowie and the Vatican:
