Among the Bishops who welcomed Pope Francis, I spied our own Bishop Cozzens, standing in front of Bishop Barron.
What is so very consoling is seeing all the Bishops united to welcome - enthusiastically, I might add - their Pontiff, the Bishop of Rome, Pope Francis.

What a wonderful sight ! And, I am sure, so nourishing for the Bishops, so healing, I hope it gives them much encouragement. However....Re: the bizarre rift 'within' the Church.....certain members/clergy will continue to close their ears and hearts to him, to the true teaching. I wonder, do you think, that he is aware of that element that is poised against him ?
ReplyDeleteHi Consolata - I'm sure he is aware of those whose positions are against what he says and does - but I think his being here and speaking to us is intended to help us all understand his message.
DeleteThe Lord is at work as evidenced by one brother of mine who is afflicted with drug abuse and is now interested in what our Holy Father has to say. He has been following Papa's travels daily on the news. My mom told me this morning they were especially moved by his speech this morning.
DeleteWhy some have closed their ears and hearts to him is not something I understand. I would like to voice a few negative opinions on the matter but then I will end up in the same negative full of contempt camp.
I will with the help of the Holy Spirit pray for all concerned instead.
Very cool! Biship Cozzens was the first face I saw in the first picture (we were dorm mates in college).

DeleteYes, I do! I was not surprised when he was named a bishop...I guess I always figured he always would be.
