Recovering from the Synod ...

Satirical allegory of the Protestant Synod of Dort, 1622

I've been reading about synods and councils ... Catholic and non.

They can get kind of dicey.

I should do a satirical painting of the current Synod.

Last week really exposed every one (of us) - and our worst fears.

All will be well.

  1. I'm afraid a lot of people are still hanging onto their fears and still denouncing Pope Francis and/or the bishops.

  2. I am not sure what specific "fears" you're referring to. If you mean the fear that doctrine would change and now, it's all good, no Catholic with any sense and true faith believed that. Catholics literally know better.

I think the overarching fear now for many Catholics is the fallout from the damage done because of the impression given, such as through the release of the initial summary last Monday, 10/13, that the "remarried" could be admitted to communion and the murky talk regarding homosexual orientation, thus suggesting that the Church's position could change or 'soften'.

  4. I'm not afraid. I'm very sad and confused by a number of things.

    1. I'm not afraid either - but I am sad and confused as well.

    2. When I saw the brideshead quote the other day the characters came to life in the synod. Oh and don't worry she's not concerned with scandal :P

  5. After reading Pope Francis' homily at the end of the Synod, I am neither sad nor confused. I do think, though, that many people are, and the Pope should clear up the confusion.
