Pope Francis: "The gender ideology is demonic!" - der Google translation.*

German sociologist Gabriele Kuby.

Interesting story online today - nearly unreadable in the Google translation, but interesting nonetheless.  A friend did more research and came up with some background on Gabriele Kuby and her findings on 'gender ideology' - a subject many are just waking up to and others are learning more about these days.  The quote I use for the title is attributed to Pope Francis - taken out of context of a specific discussion and/or meeting:
Pope Francis has said to my question: "The gender ideology is demonic!" Over the top? No, because they already raped on the way to state laws with its suppression of violence, the nature created by God to the people, "reshape" the people want, and thus shows that your representatives want to be like God by a new, self-invented people "do" want. - kath.news
I don't like the results of online translators because the exact sense is rarely worked out and nuance is almost completely lacking - nevertheless the statement attributed to Francis echoes Benedict's 2012 Christmas address:
Gabriele Kuby: Pope Benedict XVI gave a very enlightening speech as part of his Christmas Greetings to the Curia and the Cardinals on December 21, 2012. He spoke then of the “anthropological revolution” of our time, pointing to the “attack we are currently experiencing on the true structure of the family” in the form of a false understanding of man’s sexual nature.
If man denies that he is created as man and woman in the image of God (Genesis 1:27), and that his sex is a “given element of nature,” and that he is called to love and to give life, then the root of human existence is being destroyed. The “new anthropology” refers to this conception of man. - CWR
 Still think it's crazy talk?

You think 'coming out' is healthy?  You say "Bravo!" when another celebrity, athlete, or sibling 'comes out' as some form of LGBTQ?  You congratulate a 14 year old girl on her new identity as Stephen Beatty?
Last year, Ira (Stephen) spoke about his identity in a video, saying he identifies as "a trans man, a faggy queen, a homosexual, a queer, a nerd fighter, a writer, an artist and a guy who needs a haircut." He credited his friends and peers as those who have been the most supportive of his transition, a journey he began when he was 14 years old. - Source

It's not a joke.  It isn't a quirky Hollywood fad.  It is not a phase or a passing pop-cultural trend.  It is part of what is called gender mainstreaming.

What's gender mainstreaming?
The term “gender” was introduced into official documents at the UN’s International Conference on Population and Development in 1994 held in Cairo, Egypt, and at the Fourth World Conference on Women in 1995 held in Beijing, China. The idea was to create the linguistic vehicle for a new ideology. “Gender” was to replace the term “sex” in the sense of referring to the binary sexual order of man and woman. Then radical feminist ideas and the LGBT agenda united and gave birth to the idea of “gender mainstreaming.”
The term “gender” implies that a person’s sexual identity need not necessarily be identical to that person’s biological sex. It breaks down the binary male-female sexual nature of human beings.
This dissolution of the binary sexual nature of man and woman serves two primary purposes: First, it aims to destroy the so-called “gender hierarchy” between man and woman. In other words, there are—according to gender theory—not two but many gender identities, which can include lesbian, gay, bi-sexual and transsexual men and women.
Second, it aims to dissolve heterosexuality as the norm. This gender-based conception of man and woman aims to enter the mainstream of society—and, indeed, this is already happening at an incredible speed. - CWR

The Global Sexual Revolution: Destruction of Freedom in the Name of Freedom.
In the wake of the dictatorships of the 20th century, and after a few centuries of the philosophical glorification of the individual, the highest value in our time is “freedom.” The deregulation of sexual norms has been “sold” to people as part of this freedom. - Gabriele Kuby

It's nothing to laugh about.

“The ideology of gender presents a threat worse than Nazism and Communism combined.”
- Polish Bishop Pieronek

*UPDATE 3/12/14:  From CF -Mercury: Alternative translation for KathNews Story: This is what Pope Francis has to say to my question: "Gender ideology is demonic!" Andreas Laun, auxiliary bishop of Salzburg, Austria, tells it how it is.

POPE FRANCIS: GENDER IDEOLOGY IS DEMONIC!

This is what Pope Francis has to say to my question: "Gender ideology is demonic!" Andreas Laun, auxiliary bishop of Salzburg, Austria, tells it how it is.

Gender ideology is a worldwide phenomenon today, particularly in the so-called “developed” world, where “development” apparently doesn’t extend to their sense of reason.

The basic thesis of this sick product of the mind is the end result of a radical feminism which has been appropriated by the homosexual lobby in recent years. It claims that there is not only man and woman, but other “genders” as well.

And there’s more – every person has the ability to choose their own gender for themselves. If someone had claimed this thirty years ago, people would have laughed and thought they got the idea from some kind of surreal cabaret program.

It’s hard to believe, but today this ideology is advanced by governments and celebrities, and a great deal of money is spent to disseminate it – it’s even in the curricula of preschools and elementary schools. It is part of the early sexualization of children, and this is at a time when the outrage over childhood sexual abuse, even in church circles, is still very high.

As if all this gender theory in the schools doesn’t lead directly to this kind of abuse, and isn’t itself a psychological form of sexual abuse! Anyone who doesn’t believe this should read Gabriele Kuby’s book [linked], and if you still don’t believe it after that, get yourself some psychiatric treatment or take a course like “Common Sense Made Easy – How Do I Learn to Think?”

However, this thing is everything but a laughing matter. Gender ideologues are impinging upon basic human rights, and since they are supported by many governments, they really are a threat. First, they are violating the rights of the parents, secondly, the rights of the children, thirdly, those of every taxpayer who has help fund their agenda, a fourthly, human rights themselves, since the gender ideologues want to dictate how people should speak and how they should write if they don’t want to be socially ostracized.

Would it help to give an example? Students fail exams and thesis projects, or even oral tests, if they don’t use “proper gender terminology”. As if experience has not taught the peoples of Europe in particular just how precious freedom of speech and freedom of thought are! And today these freedoms are once again in serious danger!

Gender ideology is difficult to refute, because it’s so blatantly contrary to elementary reason. How does one prove that there are not invisible people living on the moon? Just think about it – every person is supposed to have the freedom to decide whether he (or she) wants to be a man or a woman or a “homosexual” or whatever else was until a short time ago considered a psychological disorder you went to therapy for!

But what you can say is this – there is nothing that man would not have done or at least tried to do if he was able to, even if his nature in no way seemed to suggest it – flying, climbing, tightrope walking. But no one’s ever heard of anyone walking up to his friends or acquaintances and announcing, “this morning I attempted to will myself into being a woman – and look, I’ve done it, now I am one!” If this kind of “free self-determination” were possible, people would have long ago discovered and practiced it. Up to any transformations have been the stuff of fairy tales: bad ones, when a sorcerer or a witch casts a spell on someone; good ones, when the princess kisses the frog and brings out the prince he really was all along and marries him. And if they haven’t died yet, they’re still alive today – the princess and her prince, who was once a frog.

The bad thing is that today they want to force us all to take the absurd, nonsensical gender fairy tale as literal truth! But isn’t there really such a thing as “self-determined gender?” Experience clearly says “no!” Of course, there have always been transvestites, and even men who wanted to be women, too. Today they can even have an operation! But no one really thinks that the person in question is really a woman now, and not a man in drag or a man who’s been mutilated.

And even people today so often claim that this is the case, deep down, every person knows very well that neither the person themselves, nor a doctor, nor “society” can work such a bizarre miracle as making a girl out of a boy or a boy out of a girl. They’ve tried, but the “girl”, who really was a boy, first fought desperately to go “back”, and then, mutilated as he was, he shot himself!

Incidentally, the “transformation by operation” of a man into a woman or a woman into a man is a refutation of all this gender theory – what’s the point of a costly and painful operation if every person can “determine their own gender?” Apparently that’s exactly what he cannot do, but instead “needs” an operation that mangles, but does not transform. It’s like claiming that baldness can be cured by using a wig! Very few people know such people who have been “transformed” – I know only two such “women” who “were” men, but both of them regret what they have done and are deeply unhappy!

Whatever “progress” the future might bring, even the best operations are still a trick like at the circus – “The magician puts his dog into the back of a box, does a bit of hocus-pocus, announces the transformation, does a bit more hocus-pocus, and voilĂ ! The front of the box opens, a ‘meow’ is heard, and out comes a cat!” Perhaps he then climbs into the magic box himself, and amid the whinnying laughter of the crowd, comes back out in a blonde wig, a bra, and high-heel shoes! He takes a bow, thanks everyone for the applause, and attempts to scurry out with some semblance of grace. But at the circus as well, no one believes the dog has really become a cat or the magician has really become a woman. On the way home, people are only going to wonder how the trick might have worked, where the dog is now, and whether the magician is now back home with his wife!

If someone absolutely wants such “transformations”, they can find them at the circus or at a costume festival, but otherwise gender ideology hasn’t lost anything among sensible people. All that’s needed to recognize this is common sense – it doesn’t need a special title! [These two sentences were difficult to make sense of – transl.] But one need only look around to see the nigh on magical power that gender ideology has on some people – even many “educated” people fall for it, while “normal” people almost
always react sensibly like the child in the story of the emperor’s new clothes: “Mama, look, the emperor has no clothes!”

This is what Pope Francis had to say to my question: "Gender ideology is demonic!" Is that too much? No, because for a long time now it has been working its way into the law and using the oppressive power of the state to do violence to human nature as created by God – its goal is to "refashion" the human person. What this shows is that its proponents wish to be like God, in that they desire to "make" a new person, one of their own device. In the meantime, the Slovak bishops, the Polish, the Croatian, and the Portuguese bishops, some bishops in Italy and bishops from other countries have solemnly spoken out in warning. They all agree – “gender” as it is understood today is a serious danger to all civilization, and especially to the Church. In dramatic terms, gender ideologues are, as it were, a spiritual “Taliban”, even if they are at this time just “sleepers” involved in civic action here and there, but waiting to be called into action!

Of course, gender ideology appears to the first heresy for which common sense should really be enough to defeat it, as soon as people begin to sober up. In his encyclical on hope, Pope Benedict wrote, “The victory of reason over unreason is also a goal of the Christian life,” and this is exactly the victory that we need right now.

Speaking directly on the topic of “gender theory”, the same pope said, “When the freedom to be creative becomes the freedom to create oneself, then necessarily the Maker himself is denied and ultimately man too is stripped of his dignity as a creature of God, as the image of God at the core of his being. The defense of the family is about man himself. And it becomes clear that when God is denied, human dignity also disappears. Whoever defends God is defending man.”

Yes, gender theory is the destruction of man, which is why Pope Francis was right to call it demonic, a work of the “murderer from the beginning” and “the father of lies” (John 8:44). Is this all too emotional and over-the-top? That’s what they told the prophets of the pre-war period, before it was too late to break through the political correctness.

  1. Ok, I'm lost here...exactly what gender was Stephen Beatty and what did he change? I'm truly clueless. I'd never have known about gender ideology if I didn't read your blog, Terry!

  3. Terry, it doesn't seem like there was a meeting in which the pope actually answered a question posed by Bishop Laun, but that the bishop poses a rhetorical question in the article and then says "this is what Pope Francis has to say about this stuff".

Here's a better, more nuanced translation, though I'll admit the syntax was a little weird in that first part:

"This is what Pope Francis had to say about my question: "Gender ideology is demonic!" Too much? No, because for a long time now it has been working its way into the law and using the oppressive power of the state to do violence to human nature as created by God -- its goal is to "refashion" the human person. If you'd like, I can translate the whole article for you. I need practice anyway.

    1. Mercury - could you do that - I would really appreciate it - I forgot that is your expertise. The translation you provided is much better because it points to the state and international law as the perpetrator-promoter.

  5. Terry, it was' t your writing that confused me. It was the part about Stephen being homosexual...how can a woman turned male be homosexual?
