Johnny Weir-d

Johnny Weir is an NBC Commentator at the Olympics.

He's getting people riled up too.  Fr. Z is disgusted - which almost makes it even funnier - but for me, it's just queer.  Really queer.

Weir is protesting Holy Russia's policy against GLBTQ propaganda and the rough treatment shown to gay protesters.  How?  By simply showing up ... making some sort of fashion statement.  I wonder if Lady Gaga is his fashion consultant?
Weir has appeared with full makeup -- blush, lipstick, etc. -- as well as silk blouses and gaudy jewelry. Hairstyles have ranged form piled on top to a braided tiara. This was his plan from the beginning, as NJ.com reports:
[My wardrobe will be a] cross between Coco Chanel and Brooks Brothers” with a hint of “Stanley Tucci’s character in the Hunger Games without the blue hair.
Weir says the games are not supposed to be about politics.
The Olympics are supposed to be about these wonderful athletes who are chasing these lifelong dreams, not politics.
Weir just made it all about politics.
Photo credit.  I think he's looking more Lily Tomlin than Coco Chanel.

  1. He's pathetic. In a way I feel sorry for him. I am glad I am not his mother.

    3. I didn't on this post. At least I don't think I did?

I may have on another post, but I usually only do that if I detect a spelling error or something. I copy the existing comment - then delete it - paste the copy in the new form and then correct spelling.

I honestly have no recollection of doing that here. I've been a bit absent minded lately though - which is scaring me.

  2. He looks like that all of the time. This isn't novel.

Also, he's a friggin figure skater. What exactly do people expect? Figure skaters are drag queens on ice.

ALSO, methinks the Z doth protest too much.

    1. What?!

" Figure skaters are drag queens on ice."

Don't say that to Chaz Michael Michaels and Jimmy MacElroy!

      What?

  3. Ah...Fr Z Pac...doesn't like the flaming figure skater commentator...too bad. I think JW is annoying but think it hilarious that he is tweaking the noses of both Russia anti gay b.s. and uptight people like Zzzzzz. Since when does Zzzzz not make anything political? Why didn't he go into politics?Ahhh he might actually have to work and run for office...and hustle for real instead of pumping his readers for freebies!

Go JW and your queeny little self

  4. The fact is that there are abuses being done in Russia. There is violence being committed against gays. I agree there is legitimate concerns so the protests are not without reason. I am a bit disturbed that some Catholics have decided to brush aside the real violent abuses. If we can't speck up against the violence then our words are worth nothing. Why is Father Z upset about Weir's appearance and demeanor and not upset about the real amount of violence being perpetuated in Russia against gays? That is what doesn't make sense to me.
