He's entitled to go because he's a Cardinal. We have to remember that the Church is populate with sinners, just like us. I think he was just over his head and wanted the trouble to just go away because he had no idea what to do. So many people don't realize that it's the coverup that's going to kill you, not whatever it was that you covered up.
I don't think we need to worry that Cardinal Roger will gain any more speed in this conclave than a broken down Pacer on the LA Freeway during rush hour. His scarlet hood has been scorched and he'll be towed to the impound before he gets to South Pasadena.
