Fr. Zuhlsdorf in NYC

"I just want you to know no matter what you do, you're gonna die, just like everybody else." - Rose Castorini
.
What the hell happened to this guy, huh? So he's in NYC and starts going all Rose Castorini on us. I write this same stuff all of the time, but now suddenly Fr. Z starts...
.
"You are all going to die.
.
I am going to die. You are going to die.
.
There is no way around it.
.
When we die, and we will, we will be judged.
.
Heaven and Hell are the only alternatives.
.
Both of them are never going to end.
.
Heaven or Hell are not like going on a really good or really bad cruise.
.
So, get ready.
.
You could die before you click away from this page.
.
Or it could be in a few more years.
.
But it is going to happen.
.
You might have some warning and lead time.
.
You might not.
.
One day that funeral procession that blocks traffic and keeps you sitting an waiting at the light is going to be about you.
.
Get ready.
.
You will have to account for what you have done with your life." - WDTPRS
.
.
"You have such a head for knowing!" - Mona, "Moonstruck"
.
Oh wait, maybe that's his 8 minute homily? ;)

Sub species aeternitatis. I try to live my life always under the eye of eternity...and with Rose Castorini on board, how can we go wrong?

  2. The Four Last Things - important to keep them in consideration.

Which, as every Catholic knows, are pension, Social Security, health care and entitlements.

Ooops...sorry - they're contraception, conscience, same sex marriage and being Church.

Darn it! Got it wrong again. Help me out Terry!

  3. I don't think anyone thought this was funny, rather they think I was making fun of Fr. Z. I wasn't.

  4. I don't think you were making fun of Fr Z. And believe me - I am serious about the 4 last things - I happen to think that the majority of Catholics in this country have no idea what they are - because it's never preached about.

That's what my comment was supposed to convey.

  6. Larry--LOL.--they're contraception, conscience, same sex marriage and being Church.
Instead of a First Things Blog, I am thinking, maybe I should start a Last Things Blog.
You know, if Nancy Pelosi is lost,as she surely is, there are plenty of priests and Bishops who led the way of the lost for decades. Remember, Drinan SJ told the whole gang that abortion was OK. I think this sometimes people lose sight of the responsibility that men at the helm had..
