The good he has done...

Bishop Callahan on Archbishop Weakland.
.
Bishop Callahan said Weakland’s legacy in the church is not just his mistakes but also some of the good he did, including shaping the modern Mass.
.
Callahan, who's known Weakland for years, said he's surprised by Weakland's admission that he is gay. “I think it caught me off guard. It was not necessarily something I was ready to hear coming from the Archbishop,” Callahan said. - Source

Ooooooh. Well that's nice. (Marge Simpson's voice.)
.
UPDATE: With money he earned from speaking and writing, and through funds raised by several of his friends, Archbishop Weakland repaid the $450,000 to the archdiocese. In a recent interview with TheAssociated Press, the archbishop said proceeds from the sale of his memoirs will be donated to the Milwaukee-based Catholic Community Foundation.
.
I did not know that before.

Ooooooh. Well that's nice.

  1. "including shaping the modern Mass."

I can forgive him being a homosexual. I can forgive him handing over all that church money to his boyfriend. I cannot forgive him for the damage he did to the Mass.

I can't believe he is actually writing his "life story". Don't people know when it's time to leave the party?

  2. "some of the good he did, including shaping the modern Mass." - sounds more of a back handed insult.

What Adrienne said: that actually made me smile.

Weakland is old, but still alive--instead of writing the book, he should better spend his days doing penance, repenting, and praying--instead of trying to glorify himself before he dies!
