"Are we prepared to promote conditions in which the living contact with God can be reestablished? For our lives today have become godless to the point of complete vacuity. God is no longer with us in the conscious sense of the word. He is denied, ignored, excluded from every claim to have a part in our daily life." - Alfred Delp, S.J.

Terrance Nelson: My new art.

Pictures at an exhibition.
Top: "Compartments #1" Oil colour on paper
Bottom: "Homage to Cadmus" Oil colour on paper
I'm disappointed in how these scanned, but I'm excited about what I have been working on. After the oil paint dries I will scan more images and have a "Holiday Art Exhibit" for Thanksgiving. It will be called: "Compartments" - because men are so good at compartmentalizing everything.

  1. In Holland we call it "pillarisation."

  2. The painting on the bottom makes me think of mental illness - you know how a person -just feels trapped .

Wait'll you see MY art. You will die laughing. (I suck)

Your painting also makes me think of this song.......

and it makes me laugh, I think aww, "does somebody need a Counselor?
    but then I think...........
Oh my stars- it's me, I need the counselor!!

(Belinda - Blah, Blah, Blah, I hate this world, and leave me alone)
    (God- knock it off Belinda)
    (Belinda -okay God.)

BTW. Art Garfunkel helped Catholic charities in KC with a concert- Love him.

  3. "'Holiday Art Exhibit' at Thanksgiving!"--Great, I'll wait by the mailbox for my invite! :-)

*Cathy laughs as she sees Terry closing all his drapes in complete panic*

Seriously, this is great. I'm so happy you are painting.

  4. I'm glad you are creating!!! My visit to emerge slowed my week down but I managed to get a drawing done once I got home yesterday.

  5. Cathy, you know my door is always open to you.

  6. gette4:32 PM

Wow, you are really QUITE diverse in your artistic styles! It means you are always open to growth and development, not afraid to try all avenues of expression. Lovely use of color!

  7. Gette - I always fall back on narrative and representational however.

  8. Stonehenge in 3D...

  9. Is that you in the second picture? It looks like you....

I like them both very, very much!

  10. I love colors. When I was a kid I use to just sit ,and stare at colors in the crayon box. As an adult I stare at swatches I love those walls of different paint swatches at the hard ware stores, and yet again my mind thinks....
"no eye has see, nor could imagine what God has in store for us" -out of context, but you get the idea.

  11. Thanks all. No Adrienne - it is not me - Paul Cadmus did a series of men in boxes - one of my favorites was one reading a newspaper.

  12. Are you going to sell prints on line?

  13. i have absolutely no explanation for it

    i like them

  14. Thanks Uncle Jim - it's the colors I think.

    SF - I never considered that - I don't have prints.
