This is so sad ...

The headlines:

Toonces Dead!

He ended his ninth life by suicide.
Law enforcement stated he left a note,
printed in lipstick on the mirror above his catbox.

The note read:

Just like Capucine,
I can't continue on -
I've lost my looks ...
there are no more parts for old cats ...
I'm going for a drive,
just like Gloria Wandrous did
in Butterfield  8.
Don't look for me.

No sale,
Toonces

This is so tragic.  If only someone could have been there for him ...

Toonces' last job was as an Uber driver but he refused to pick up Poodles - he thought they were pretentious.

The history of cross-dressing: First installment.

Kilts.
Mid-20th century menswear styles
 for girls and young women.

It began with the women.

As everyone knows, the 20th century fashion industry introduced manly dress for women.  It began with Coco Chanel of course, who took women out of unnatural, constraining under garments and into sheaths, shortened skirts, blouses, jackets - as well as pants.  Yet the more insidious changes occurred when the look of Scottish kilts was introduced, quickly adopted by Roman Catholic nuns to force their female students into such attire.  After all, the kilt and shorter skirt have always been male attire.

War and its consequences.
WWII radicalized women
even more.

Bunch of heretics trying to destroy Christmas...

"You're not a failure George - you're an alcoholic."

Oh man!  Another 'Angelologist' claims angels have no wings...
Angels do not have wings or look like cherubs,” he said.
Angels exist but do not have wings and are more like shards of light, at least according to a top Catholic Church “angelologist” who says the heavenly beings are now back in vogue thanks to New Age religions.
“I think there is a re-discovery of angels in Christianity,” Father Renzo Lavatori told AFP on the sidelines of a conference on angels in a lavishly-frescoed Renaissance palace in Rome.
“You do not see angels so much as feel their presence,” said Lavatori, adding: “They are a bit like sunlight that refracts on you through a crystal vase.” - Source
Fine.  I'll accept the no cherub thing - because everyone knows cherubs are putti - little unbaptized kids from Limbo - but I gotta call his bluff about angel wings.  Remember Clarence?  The angel in "It's A Wonderful Life"  - he got his after helping George Baily get his bank back.

What?

Tune into Duck Dynasty and find out what's wrong with these people.

I have to go to the bathroom ... Lavatori.

Depressing Christmas stories - fail.

I can't think of any.  I think I've told them all in the past.  I'm strangely happy and actually looking forward to Christmas now.  (Thanks for praying for me whoever you are.)

Nothing to blog about today however.

I do have a post in mind about how Christmas really is just for kids - and those like them.  It's about spiritual childhood.  Maybe later.

Monarchist Factoid

An extremely obscure, albeit interesting factoid few people have ever heard of...

.
Louis XIV loved to be called "Poodle" by his intimate companions, and had his hair done accordingly.

(I just received a handsome book containing architectural drawings from the reign of Louis XVI.)

Do priests get jealous of one another?

Like if I said I really like Fr. X, Y, or Z's blog better than Monsignor Ganswein's - does that bother priests?  Are some priests competitive?  What if I really thought that the priest who wears a long cape is much more Catholic than one who doesn't wear any cape at all?  What if I praised the devotion of one priest and recommended his blog to everyone, but then never ever directed people to Fr. Idlephonse's blog?  What if I said one priest wasn't...
.
Oh who cares?

What's in a name?

Kat has a post on names...
.
Which called to mind this, did you know the name Tiffany is a derivative of the name of today's feast day, Epiphany?  Yes it is true.
.
We make fun of modern names, but many are rather ancient.  There are quite a few strange saints names one might take advantage of as well.  Take Senator for instance - he was a saint, and what a cool name it would be for a kid.  Metro is another early saint - I could see calling a kid Metro.  Hartman is also a saint's name - really, there are many cool names of saints.  I would consider calling a son Martial, after St. Martial of Limoges - yep - you could spell it Marshall if you wanted.
.
Last names work well too - especially of the British martyrs.  Take Ashley for instance - after Blessed Ralph Ashely - works for boys or girls.
.
Names can come from almost anywhere - even the place a saint is from - Saint So and So of York - thus one might name their child York.  If they were Asian and their last name was Nu, last name first would be; Nu, York.  Cool, huh?  Now I have an Aunt Mary-Jane, in Spanish she might be called, Marijuana.  Personally, I prefer girl's names like Apple - or Kat - love that name!
.
Photo:  Can't remember - but I think the woman's name is Tiffany.

Christmas Carol...

Yeah - that's what they used to call this girl in the office I worked in... every Christmas she'd show up to the party wearing leopard... -  Oops!  That isn't meant for this blog.

All I was gonna say is that I have not listened to one Christmas carole yet this season.  Yayeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!

Behave at your office parties this week!
