Devout Catholics want to get rid of the Pope? Really?

Some say.

Some say some Cardinals do...
The report is considered valid, having been first reported by prominent Catholic journalist and Vatican expert Antonio Socci for the Italian newspaper Liberio. His report was quoted as saying that about a dozen of the cardinals who voted for Pope Francis are convincing him to retire. - Source

Some say, "It is time to stop pretending that everything is alright and to choose which side you are on."

Works for me.

I'm Catholic and Francis is my pope.

    1. My original comment made it sound like I thought this post is irrelevant. I didn't like the way it came across. Suffice it to say that I think you make sense :)

  2. The cardinals who want the pope to resign are reported to be his liberal supporters, not devout Catholics. Although I don't deny that many devout Catholics are disturbed by the confusion he is sowing about doctrines like the indissolubility of marriage. We can, I think, all agree that we need to pray for him. Outside of Mass and the rosary prayers, I have committed to saying Memorare for him every day.

    1. Mary Ann, your blog has become one long rant against Pope Francis, basically accusing him of being a heretic. You agree with people like the hateful Mundabor and far right radicals like Remnant Newspaper. At one time I had great respect for you even though I disagreed with you, I cannot say that is true any longer.

    2. Ms. Kreitzer - I must say, I think it is way out of line to say any Cardinal is not a devout Catholic. Who are any of us to make this judgment? God alone judges our souls.

I do agree with you that we must pray for His Holiness. Your idea of saying a Memorare daily in addition to your other prayers is excellent. Pope Francis has a tremendous weight on his shoulders, and as fellow Catholics, we must offer prayer support.

Devout Catholics? Who can say one is a devout Catholic with such certainty while criticizing and slamming the Holy Father? Liberal Cardinals? Says who, devout Catholics?

I was reflecting on the term "devout Catholic" today and thought about how the term is tossed about on Catholic blogs. It occurred to me that the blogs I used to visit claiming to be devout, were just blogs meant to entice strife, discord, division, spread gossip, rumors and speculate, scrutinize, criticize.

I want to grow as a Catholic Christian. I went/came looking for Jesus on these sites that claimed to be "devout" instead, all I got was so much negative drivel and self-righteous/all-knowing rants with regards to our Holy Father, I became discouraged and moved on.

I struggle as it is but press onward with hope so much so I left those sites since I do want to be soiled by such negative commentary that spews out into our suffering world and Church as it is.

In reference to wh comment about how I have him praying for someone he disagrees with, I take no such credit. I merely proposed what came to me from the Holy Spirit in prayer. I am more than happy to suggest anyone go to the glorious and gentle St. Joseph! He will help us with anything and that makes me love him more!

That being said, I pray for those who disagree with me about our Holy Father.

I am Catholic and Francis is my pope

  4. Mary Ann, that's weird. I'd expect it was cardinals that he jerked around who'd want him to retire. And why retire? He's pope. One pope emeritus at a time is enough. Or too many; I think Benedict retired for the good of the Church but papal retirements are supposed to be a rare event, not business as usual.

  5. On another blog, I was horrified to see one of the commenters prayed for Pope Francis (calling him simply "Frank") to "convert, retire, or die". I defended the Pope, but was told to take off my rose-colored glasses, that I had a case of hero-worship, and that I was a Pollyanna, not that any of that bothered me.

It is getting scary out there. Truly, I can see that what Sr. Lucia told us about seeing the Pope in despair when being defied by his own people is true.

Terry, keep up the good work. Those of us who are listening to the Pope's call to mercy and faithfulness are getting fewer and farther between.

Peace to you and all here - Susan, ofs

  6. We live in evil times. Confusion all around. I happen to think that the vast majority of the confusion has come to us from Francis. If there are Cardinals who are encouraging him to step down, and I believe there are - probably more than we know, it is no doubt because they believe the confusion he has brought to the Church is becoming a problem so big that only a fresh start will be able to remedy it. I agree that the abdication of a Pope should be rare, but I can't think of a time when it is more necessary. For the good of the Church, I think maybe we do need a fresh start - a Pope whose orthodoxy cannot be questioned, who can teach with clarity, and who has nothing to lose. The last one I think is most important. If we really want someone to clean up the curia, that person must not be beholden to anyone but God alone. Then they can go about the work of cleansing the temple and throwing out those using it for evil purposes. Those are my thoughts. But who am I? Just a simple man who prays.

  7. Our current Pope will not resign. Thank you everyone who prays for him. I feel less intelligent with each passing day. Nation and Chirch fighting like cats and dogs. I do not know what God has in store for us but really my opinion is meaningless. Yaya has me praying daily for a man I totally disagree with. Guess which one that is! Anyway, like I said my humble opinion does not matter but I sure believe my prayers do!

    1. Your humble opinion is always most entertaining dear wh.

BTY, who is "Nation and Chirch?"

Some kind of Law firm? Tax firm? Sports outfit? I ask since you mentioned "fighting like cats and dogs" and it occurred to me that if that's the case, lawsuits are to be had, money made on bets and gambling therefore involving unpaid taxes and/or a sports arena to be built where the cats and dogs can really go at it. ^^)

  9. One word defines his papacy. . .chaos. I remember Saint Pope John Paul II repeatedly saying, "Do not be afraid." He was preparing us for a future in which many believers would be afraid. Why are we fearing? We understand the consequences laid out clearly for shepherds who led their sheep astray. To blindly follow any leader without scripture, the catechism, and tradition as our foundation wouldn't be wise. As a convert, I love this church. But to disregard teachings and statements that would put the church in mortal sin if followed troubles me greatly. While I do not fear for the Catholic Church, I do fear for the souls of those who have harmed seminarians and children. In doing so they have destroyed the faith of many. As the church is the Bride of Christ, we are to defend our Beloved even if it means correcting the Pope. Be not afraid.
