Although skimming over news aggregates I see even 'the elect' are making something of the 100 years stuff - going back to Leo XIII story. In 1984, interested parties were claiming the Leonine 1884 vision reached it's conclusion then.
The point of the Fatima message necessary for Christians to know was already known for decades - Sr. Lucy always said that - the essence, conversion, prayer, penance and the First Saturday devotion is the call and I'm not sure it was heeded. That is the part of the message necessary to promulgate - there never was any indication the centenary would be significant in a prophetic respect - it is pretty much conjecture on the part devout faithful who are troubled by our times. I wonder if God follows a timetable like that?
