  1. One of my favorites whom I love and admire. He had a sweet way of expressing himself with a very likeable personality and sense of humor. I wish he could have spent time with Papa Francis like he had hoped. I remember him expressing that desire in public when he first introduced now Archbishop Cupich.

We have another faithful son of the Church to intercede for all of us before the throne of Grace and of Mercy.

    Que en paz descanse!

    1. I really came to admire him. Early on I was influenced by negative commentary on him and my opinion was tainted - then over the years he showed himself to be a very faithful servant of God. I have a deep respect for him and hopefully, in the future, I can learn to withhold judgement upon bishops and cardinals.

He was actually stationed in my archdiocese for a time in the early '70's. He also suffered from polio as a young seminarian. I believe suffering early on in life makes for a compassionate and understanding heart.

I pray for the repose of his soul and in thanksgiving for his fidelity to Christ and the Church.

    2. Lots of good reads on Cardinal George. I have read most of them and am glad I did so.

Terry, you are right about suffering. He suffered much pain for most of his life due to the polio. Then along comes cance and he takes that on as well.

I will miss him but I am glad he is not suffering anymore. I have to smile every time I think of him and wonder at his wonder as he beholds the Risen Lord. What joy! I bet his wonderful face just lit right up!

  2. He was my cardinal. I didn't agree with him obviously but I respected him. May he rest in peace.

  3. But you don't follow church teaching. Of course you don't agree with anyone who follows it and shares Truth with all.
