I've been asking myself that same question as of late. It's time to dismantle the USCCB. They aren't getting any more of my money, and I'm going to contribute to the organizations that deserve it - namely, ones that are faithful to the Church.
Their counterpart in Canada is almost as bad. If you read Lifesite News and have heard of 'Development and Peace' you know what I am talking about. I just send my money to our mission in Peru or to my foster daughter in Chile. And the food bank is always happy to accept donations.
Why do we have Bishop's Conferences? Well, canon law does indeed require them. But they are not to be "mini-Magisteriums"...they're supposed to implement the teachings and practices of the universal Church and deal with the local situation, which, in recent history, has not been an exactly stellar accomplishment...just an opinion from the "peanut gallery":<)!

O Mary conceived without sin, pray for us who have recourse to you and for those who do not, especially the enemies of the Church and those recommended to you.

Show us your face and we shall be saved. "Each soul is the object of My special love. That is why I am so grateful to those who are resourceful and bringing back sinners to Me. Keep this in mind then. I gave My life for them in the most atrocious torture, for these poor beloved ones. A humble repentance, and they are already on My heart. So speak gently to them. Speak with tenderness. A brusque remark could drive them farther away." - He and I

ReplyDeleteBishop Bruskewitz of Lincoln, NE, would say that the only reason we would need a USCCB is to serve as an incoming and outgoing mail service.
ReplyDeleteI would say that they also perform an important translation and liturgical service in keeping us all singing from the same hymn book. Theoretically.
Michael Voris must have fired his make-up artist. He sure looks weird in the recent photos I have seen.
ReplyDeleteVery amateurish. This is a guy who was a news anchor in the Detroit area so you would think he would know better.
Funny. I thought that the Church organized and ordained regional conferences of Bishops in Canon Law.
ReplyDeleteRay, it's the Mo hair cut!
ReplyDeleteAurora - I think he believes it is the moddish European look - swept hair.
