I have learned a bit by watching Bishop Robert Barron's Synod updates on YouTube. His team has also been posting videos about their trips to different churches in the Eternal City. I find them to be very uplifting in building up the body of Christ.
Here's an example:

So far seven videos are out and I have enjoyed every single one!
I haven’t been paying attention either. I wonder if everyone is in denial. The American Bishops meet in Nov. and I think they will be oblivious to what is happening all around us. Between them and our sorry politicians I could scream, but no one would bother to ask why. The swamp is stagnant.
If you were paying attention dear wh, you would know that:
Seven days of prayer and reflection, from 2 to 8 January 2019, led by the preacher to the Papal Household, the Capuchin Friar Father Raniero Cantalamessa. It is a spiritual retreat at the invitation of Pope Francis to which all the pastors of the United States are called, to address the current U.S. clergy sex abuse crisis.
I for one, refuse to toss in the towel on our embattled bishops and pray that the retreat will prove fruitful and grace filled.
May the Spirit of the Risen Lord hover over all who attend and enlighten their hearts and their minds to seek justice and mercy for all who are wounded by those who betrayed their Lord.
I look forward to this time and will pray for all of them.
Dear Terry, I have been without my PC for more than a week and have now seen your recommendations to me regarding literature on St Teresa of Avila, in a previous post. Thank you warmly for your time and energy in answering my request! My comment here is off topic, I know, but I'm afraid you might just miss my "thank you" if I express it after a week in the appropriate place.
Yaya, glad you appreciate Bishop Barron. I visit his Word on Fire site regularly and have learnt a lot there. I now also have Protestant friends who are fans of him and his site, even receive daily updates via email. There are also some great Bishops in the US, friends. Bishop Barron's online and digital ministry have found roots even in Africa, my home continent.
And please, stop those angry fellow-Americans online. It really, really upsets me with my background from Protestantism where they now have more than 30,000 squabbling sects and denominations. Let us pray for reform within the Church where it is necessary, and NOT take the path of revolt and destruction initiated by Luther and company in the 16th century. It is like choosing to have cancer, because it results in ever increasing metastasis and a slow death.
