Thanks - it goes against everything we say about protecting children in this country and the world. The damage done has to be similar on some level to what victims of war and terror experience in the Middle East. I agree with what the doctor said: “The really basic, foundational needs of having trust in adults as a young child was not being met. That contradicts everything we know that the kids need to build their health,” Kraft said.
Separating children from their parents reminds me of the workhouses in England. There was even a term called the "workhouse howl" which is literally a scream of despair from an inmate who had reached their limit. It won't be long before there is a migrant howl.
I hope it stops. A couple of weeks ago the Pope visited a women's prison where their children are allowed to live with them there. I noted a couple of negative comments online about that, but it seems more humane to me.
